Actor Truong Minh Cuong suffered a serious injury and had to undergo surgery to reconnect his leg tendons.

On the evening of October 18, Truong Minh Cuong attended the exhibition Baby Sumo Kō - Worlds of Joy by artist Koichi in Ho Chi Minh City with 2 crutches and limping steps.

Talking to VietNamNet , he said he suffered a serious injury while playing pickleball. At first, he did not realize the severity of the injury so he went to get some medicine but the pain was unbearable and he could not walk. When the condition became more serious, people advised him to have an MRI scan. The results showed that the tendon was completely torn, requiring surgery. He had to wait until next Monday to schedule surgery to reconnect the tendon.

Truong Minh Cuong said this was the second time this year he had been injured playing pickleball. Last month, he had a muscle strain due to not warming up properly, and this time it was much more serious.

Despite waiting for a surgery and being advised to limit his travel, Truong Minh Cuong still decided to attend his close friend’s art exhibition. He planned to participate in a pickleball tournament but it was almost impossible due to his current injury.

Sharing more with VietNamNet , Truong Minh Cuong is preparing for a new film project produced by his company. The film is a romance, he is both the producer and takes on a small role. He revealed that he will invite veteran actors but cannot announce it yet because he is in the process of completing the script and has not signed an official contract.

The Worlds of Joy - Baby Sumo Ko exhibition organized by artist Koichi is a special art event that attracts the attention of art lovers in Ho Chi Minh City. Koichi - an artist of Vietnamese origin living and working in Singapore is currently creating a fever with the character Baby Sumo Ko - a symbol carrying a strong message about self-love and fighting against body image prejudice.

Sharing with VietNamNet , Koichi said that the Sumo character was chosen for a special reason. In Japanese culture, sumo wrestlers are always proud of their bodies, no one dares to criticize or discriminate. From there, he thought of creating Baby Sumo Kō - a child character with a more adorable image to attract more audiences.

The artist affirmed that he wants the message of body love to be conveyed more because he feels that stories that disparage body image are very condemnable, but we also need to believe in and love ourselves more.

The exhibition is divided into three main sections: The Arts of Joy with works inspired by Van Gogh, Vermeer, Dali to Hokusai; The Stars of Joy with images inspired by stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Cristiano Ronaldo and The Colors of Joy with diverse cultures from Bollywood Kō, Geisha Kō to Dragon Kō, Snowflake Kō.

The exhibition takes place from October 19-24, 2025 at Ben Thanh Park, Ho Chi Minh City.
