Attending the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City Command, Department of Foreign Affairs, Command of Coast Guard Region 3, Command of Navy Region 2, Department of External Security Protection, Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard, Command of Border Guard of Ho Chi Minh City Port, along with the Ambassador, Defense Attaché and Consul General of New Zealand in Ho Chi Minh City.

HMNZS AOTEAROA docked at M2 wharf of Khanh Hoi port at 9:00 a.m. the same day. The ship is 173.2m long, 24.5m wide, with a tonnage of over 12,000 tons, equipped with many modern technical systems and weapons. The crew consists of 109 officers and sailors, captained by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Welford. According to plan, the ship will leave Ho Chi Minh City for Manila (Philippines) on October 27, 2025.

During the visit to the city, the ship's commanding officers will lay wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Monument at Nguyen Hue walking street, pay courtesy visits to the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7 Command, Ho Chi Minh City Command, Naval Region 2; and participate in many cultural, sports and culinary exchange activities with officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Navy; visit the city's relics and scenic spots and practice with the Vietnam Navy on the code of conduct and rescue at sea.
The visit of HMNZS AOTEAROA contributes to enhancing friendly exchanges and consolidating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and New Zealand, especially in the field of security and defense cooperation, thereby continuing to promote the close and trusting relationship between the two Navies.
