The opening ceremony of the 3rd Asian Youth Games (AYG3) took place impressively and colorfully at the Bahrain World Exhibition Center, starting the journey to conquer the pinnacle of achievements of the continent's best talents.

The opening ceremony of AYG3 began at 19:00 local time (23:00 Vietnam time) on October 23 at the Bahrain World Exhibition Center (EWB) in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The highlight of the opening ceremony was an art program combining contemporary performances with elements of Bahrain's cultural heritage.

Through performances that balance traditional and modern elements, viewers will learn more about the host country’s history. The performances reflect a spirit of unity and cooperation, in line with the values ​​that sport and cultural exchange continue to promote across Asia.

In addition, the difference that the host country Bahrain brought to AYG3 was the opening ceremony held indoors, instead of outdoors like previous games. The event took place at the Bahrain World Exhibition Center (EWB) bringing many special experiences of light, sound, stage effects with modern technology and opening a new approach towards the future in sporting events across the continent.

The AYG3 Opening Ceremony was a night to remember, celebrating the unity, passion and spirit of youth. Young talents from all over Asia came together to celebrate friendship, true sportsmanship and the hope of shining brighter together on the continental stage.

From a technical perspective, AYG3 set a new record by gathering more than 4,300 male and female athletes aged 14 to 18, from 45 countries and territories. The AYG3 competition program included 24 sports with a total of 1,677 medals awarded, with 505 gold medals, 503 silver medals and 669 bronze medals.

At the opening ceremony, the Vietnam Sports Delegation (VSD) participated in the parade, with two athletes honored to be given the responsibility of holding the delegation's flag: Bui Tuan Tu (athletics) and Do Phuong Nguyen (muay). Information from Head of Delegation Dao Duc Kien said that the members of the VSD came to Bahrain with a spirit of determination, aspiration to contribute, ready to join the race for the glory and colors of the Fatherland. At the same time, contributing to strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development with countries in the continent.

The Vietnamese sports delegation to AYG3 has 75 members, including 50 athletes, competing in 11/28 sports in the competition program including athletics, badminton, jujitsu, boxing, judo, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, golf, cycling and muay. The members have been in Bahrain since October 20 to implement the professional preparation plan, ready to compete with the desire to assert themselves and set the goal of winning 3 to 4 gold medals.

According to the schedule, today, October 23, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation officially competed in 5 events including Athletics, Boxing, Muay, Taekwondo and Golf.
