On October 16, the Hanoi Department of Justice sent an invitation to Hendrio da Silva to receive the President's Decision on granting him Vietnamese nationality. The ceremony took place at 10:00 a.m. on October 17 at the Hanoi Department of Justice.
Thus, Hendrio has completed the procedure to acquire Vietnamese nationality and will take the Vietnamese name Do Hoang Hen. Hen's surname Do is taken from the surname of Mr. Hien (Mr. Do Quang Hien - Chairman of T&T Group and the person behind Hanoi Football Club).
As a Vietnamese player of foreign origin, Do Hoang Hen is eligible to play for Hanoi FC in the match against Ninh Binh on October 18, round 7 of V-League 2025 - 2026.
However, Do Hoang Hen must wait until the end of this year to be eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team according to FIFA regulations. The reason is that by December 2025, this player will have lived and worked in Vietnam for 5 years - a mandatory condition to be called up to the national team under the naturalization program.
Coming to Vietnam in 2021, Do Hoang Hen started his V-League career playing for Binh Dinh Club. The player born in 1994 quickly asserted his class and became one of the most prominent foreign players in the tournament with his speed, technique and comprehensive attacking ability, scoring many goals and creating assists.
After several seasons playing for Binh Dinh and Nam Dinh, Do Hoang Hen joined Hanoi Club from the end of the 2024 - 2025 season and was promoted to naturalization by the capital team.
Over the years, Do Hoang Hen has diligently studied Vietnamese and can now communicate quite fluently with domestic players.
In the coming time, the Vietnam team will likely have a series of other naturalized players such as Janclesio, Geovane Magno, Rimario Gordon and Gustavo Santana.
