In this match, the Vietnamese team scored the only goal thanks to an own goal from the opposing team in the 5th minute. After that, the team created many good chances but the strikers could not take advantage, especially 3 times the ball hit the post.

What did coach Kim Sang-sik say before the match with Nepal?
“Today’s match took place in bad weather conditions. I feel a bit regretful that the Vietnamese team could not score more goals, but I am still happy to have won. I want to dedicate this victory to the fans,” said coach Kim Sang-sik.
Coach Kim Sang-sik added: “The heavy rain before the match made the Thong Nhat Stadium slippery and peeling, significantly affecting the playing style of both teams. “The pitch after the rain made it impossible for us to achieve what we had set out to do.
However, the Vietnamese team won the match, thus completing the goal. The players had scoring opportunities but did not take advantage of them, sometimes they were hasty in the final situations. In the second half, some players were exhausted and could not show their true abilities.

Coach Kim Sang-sik also expressed regret that striker Nguyen Tien Linh could not score against Nepal: "We had many good finishing situations but did not score more goals.
I feel especially sorry for Tien Linh - he has a good scoring instinct, moves and finishes effectively. Hopefully in the match against Laos next month, Tien Linh will score again."
The 1976-born coach said that the Vietnamese team will continue to improve their finishing and test more personnel for the missing positions: “After the first leg match with Nepal, we focused on improving our ability to take advantage of opportunities and handle the final third of the field.
However, the pitch today did not meet the requirements. In the next training session, I will continue to find ways to help the players finish more effectively, and at the same time consider adding more players to the necessary positions."
Overcoming Nepal, the Vietnamese team (9 points) had their third win in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, thereby continuing to rank second in Group F after Malaysia (12 points).
