Urgent support for people after the storm

- Storm No. 11 left behind heavy damage. Together with groups and individuals, the Provincial Red Cross and volunteer clubs quickly took action, promptly supporting people to initially overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Authorities and members of the Lang Son Heart Volunteer Club support the transportation of necessities to people affected by storm No. 11 in Yen Binh commune.

On October 7, the Provincial Red Cross Society established two delegations to directly survey the storm and flood impacts in the communes of Hong Phong, Na Duong, Quoc Khanh... Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Trinh, Vice President in charge of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: Immediately after directly surveying the affected localities, we held a meeting to assess the damage caused by the storm and flood and planned to deploy emergency support for people in flooded areas. In particular, the focus is on prioritizing households affected by landslides, isolation, lack of essential necessities... to promptly organize initial support for the affected people.

Accordingly, on October 8, the Provincial Red Cross organized a delegation to support people severely affected by storm No. 11 in the communes of Tan Tien, That Khe, Trang Dinh, Huu Lung. Specifically, the association supported life jackets and many essential necessities including drinking water, milk, dry food... with a total value of over 120 million VND to affected households.

According to the reporter's records, at around 12 noon on October 8, in That Khe commune, although the weather was gradually clearing up, many households were still isolated by deep floodwaters. The authorities still had to use boats to support people and transport necessities to their homes.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huyen, Coc Phat village, That Khe commune said: Due to the impact of storm No. 11, at noon on October 7, my house was flooded more than 3m, causing a lot of property damage, all family activities were almost paralyzed. We had to move upstairs to avoid the water, and we only had enough food for the day. Today (October 8), the Provincial Red Cross came to our house to support necessities, we were very touched. In such difficult circumstances, receiving timely attention and support is extremely valuable, helping my family feel more secure to overcome the consequences of the storm.

In addition, volunteer clubs in the province also quickly deployed many activities to support people in flood-affected areas. Ms. Vu Thi Hue, Vice President of Lang Son Charity Club from the Heart, said: After receiving information about the impact of rain and floods causing flooding in many places across the province, we mobilized club members and many philanthropists to join hands to support and on the afternoon of October 8, the club went to Yen Binh commune to urgently support many items such as rice, necessities, life jackets... for people with a value of more than 100 million VND. Through that, we want to spread the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", contributing to helping people in flood-affected areas soon stabilize their lives.

Along with that, many individuals and groups also joined hands to support people in flood-affected areas with practical activities such as: cooking charity meals, donating necessities... Typically, on October 8, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, owner of Thuy Quan restaurant, Dong Kinh ward supported 400 meals and delivered them to people in the communes: That Khe, Trang Dinh, Huu Lung; Cao Loc Regional Medical Center supported 300 meals for staff and patients of Huu Lung Regional Medical Center...

In addition to these activities, the Provincial Red Cross has also called on many organizations, individuals, businesses, etc. to support and join hands with the people; many volunteer clubs have also proactively mobilized resources to promptly deploy support to people in flood-affected areas. Typically, the Lang Son Blood Bank Club has called for over 40 million VND in cash and many essential items; the Light Up Faith Club has mobilized over 20 million VND in cash and many other essential items... to promptly support people in flood-affected areas.

We believe that with the urgent intervention of the Provincial Red Cross Society, along with the spirit of sharing and mutual support of organizations, individuals, volunteer clubs and the business community, people in the area affected by storm No. 11 will soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
