Previously, at 2:30 p.m. on October 14, the Military Command of Do Luong commune received a notification from local people about the discovery of an unexploded bomb along the Lam river bank.
Due to recent floods, the Lam River bank in Dang Son hamlet 3, Do Luong commune, eroded over 50m into the bank, 6m deep, exposing the bomb.
Upon receiving the news, the Military Command of Do Luong commune sent forces to cordon off the scene, waiting for the authorities to handle the situation; coordinated with the authorities to notify the fishing village households to move to a safe location; and made a plan with the authorities to destroy the bomb.
