Vietnam wins silver medal at World Expo 2025

The award is a testament to Vietnam's creativity and cultural identity on the international stage, especially in an event that has a position and reputation among the world's "top" groups.

Information from the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that on the evening of October 12, Vietnam won the Silver Award for Best Exhibition Design, in the category of Pre-built Exhibition Houses and Small Houses (Type B and X) at the award ceremony of the World Expo (World Expo or EXPO) 2025, in Osaka, Japan.

This is the most official and prestigious award in the EXPO system, part of the Official Participant Awards program - Awards for officially participating countries, co-organized by the World Exhibition Organization (BIE) and the EXPO 2025 Organizing Committee.

Traditional yet modern space

Vietnam Exhibition House at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan was conceptualized by the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ), designed by Mark 'n B for space and graphics, and constructed by Pico International.

Accordingly, the Vietnam Exhibition House has taken the theme "Inclusive society with people at the center," closely following the spirit of EXPO 2025 on "Designing future society for our lives."

The highlight of the space is a water pavilion and water puppet stage, where traditional art performances take place combined with hologram technology, interactive touch screens and emotional art experiences.

The Vietnamese organizing committee also carefully designed the space to meet the needs of experience and exploration of tens of thousands of international visitors, becoming one of the most notable stops at EXPO 2025.

The exhibition space is a harmonious combination of advanced technology and traditional cultural values, giving international visitors a vivid experience of Vietnam, which is both rich in identity and dynamic and always innovative.

According to the Department of International Cooperation, during the 6 months of the event, the Vietnam Exhibition House welcomed millions of visitors indoors and attended outdoor events, organized more than 1,400 performances of traditional musical instruments, water puppetry, more than 20 international music exchange programs with exhibitors from the US, Portugal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cuba, Saudi Arabia; hundreds of events such as Vietnam National Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, friendship exhibitions, talks, seminars, cultural experiences such as making lacquer paintings, to he, playing K'long put, T'rung...

This is also an opportunity to promote many domestic tourism events such as the Announcement Ceremony of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, Quang Ninh Week, Quang Nam Week, Binh Phuoc Week, Hanoi Days, Ninh Binh - Heritage Heart, and Vietnam National Brand Week at EXPO 2025.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Exhibition team, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department Tran Nhat Hoang expressed his emotion when receiving the Silver Award.

"Vietnam's first time being honored with the Silver Award in the category of 'Best Exhibition Design' at a World Exhibition is a big step forward, affirming Vietnam's position and creative capacity in global events. We have exploited a variety of traditional cultural materials combined with a modern language of expression. This award proves that we have a rich and beautiful culture recognized by the world," said Mr. Tran Nhat Hoang.

He also affirmed that the Department of International Cooperation has completed the tasks approved by the Prime Minister in the Project to participate in EXPO 2025, from the target of welcoming visitors to initiatives to promote Vietnam's image to the world.

In the same category with Vietnam, Peru won the Gold Award and Cambodia won the Bronze Award.

Right before the above award, Vietnam Pavilion also received a Bronze Award in the Best Pavilion Team category from the jury of the Experimental Design Association (TEDA).

This category brings together judges who are prestigious consultants from the United States and around the world, proving that Vietnam has a young and enthusiastic creative team.

Vietnam was also honored for its design and operational management, demonstrating the comprehensive and coordinated efforts of the Steering Committee, design team, implementation and operation team of the Vietnam Exhibition House.

The representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam affirmed that the series of achievements showed the worthy recognition for the persistent efforts and the unceasing creative spirit of the ministries and branches to truly bring Vietnam into the hearts and minds of international friends. This is also a bridge for countries and Vietnam to understand more to cooperate and develop together sustainably in the future.

World Expo 2025 takes place in Osaka, Japan, bringing together 158 countries and territories and 7 international organizations to participate.

The World Exhibition Awards (BIE Awards) in which Vietnam received the Silver prize is the most official and prestigious award in the EXPO award system, with a long history originating from the first World Exhibition held in London in 1851.
