Vietnam petanque team won world gold medal in France, anxiously waiting for… SEA Games response

The Vietnamese women's petanque team will participate in the 2025 World Championship with two teams including players Nguyen Thi Hien, Lai Thi Dung, Nguyen Thi Thi, Thach Thi Anh Lan, Kim Thi Thu Thao, Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu, Trinh Thi Kim Thanh, and Le Ngoc Nhu Y. The tournament attracts the participation of athletes from 45 countries and territories.

In the quarter-finals, Vietnam 2 team excelled in defeating Vietnam 1 team with a score of 13-3 to enter the semi-finals. The semi-final match between Vietnam 2 team and Belgium team was intense. The Vietnamese girls took advantage of their opportunities to win with a fairly close score of 13-10, thereby winning a ticket to the final.

Vietnam petanque beat strong opponent Thailand

In the final that took place last night, coach Dang Xuan Vui's students faced strong opponents Thailand but played brilliantly, winning overwhelmingly with a score of 13-1 to be crowned champions. In 2023, the Vietnamese women's petanque team will also win the world gold medal when the tournament takes place in France, the birthplace of this sport .

According to the original plan, petanque was included in the competition program of the 33rd SEA Games, but the World Petanque Federation did not allow this country to host it due to violations in the Thai Petanque Association. Host Thailand is still working hard with the World Petanque Federation so that the sport, which is Thailand's strength, can still be held next December. If the 33rd SEA Games still organize petanque, Vietnam will also have a chance to win gold medals.
