Storms and floods pass, but human love remains

Free meals were prepared by women in Bac Kan ward to help flood victims.

In early October, localities in the southern region of the province continuously suffered from heavy rains, causing landslides and widespread flooding. Thousands of households were isolated, their properties were swept away by floodwaters, and their lives were turned upside down.

Faced with that situation, political and social organizations such as the Red Cross, Youth Union, Women's Union, Farmers' Association, etc. in the Northern localities quickly called for support and organized delegations to go directly to the affected areas.

On October 8, upon receiving information about the damage caused by floods, the Farmers' Association, the Women's Union and socio-political organizations in Bac Kan ward called for cooperation from officials, members and people. In just a short time, the call received a strong response.

According to preliminary statistics, members and people of Bac Kan ward have supported 100 kg of rice, 74 barrels of drinking water and many other essential foods. Not stopping there, women members and farmers also directly participated in the preliminary processing and preparation of 600 meals, ensuring adequate nutrition and food hygiene and safety, to be transported to people in the center of Thai Nguyen province in the early morning of October 9.

Sharing about this activity, Ms. La Thi Thuy Huong, a specialist of the Fatherland Front of Bac Kan ward, said: This is the sentiment and heart of the people of Bac Kan ward sent to the people in the flood area. In just a few days, we cooked nearly 1,500 free meals, called for many meaningful gifts such as: 100 boxes of filtered water, 250 bottles of filtered water and many boxes of milk to help the people in the flood area.

Not only Bac Kan ward, in Duc Xuan ward, the spirit of mutual love is also shown through specific actions. Responding to the call to support the flooded areas, especially Linh Son and Gia Sang wards - which were deeply flooded and isolated for many hours due to flood water, people in group 10, Duc Xuan ward, volunteered to wrap over 300 banh chung on the night of October 8. From the evening until early the next morning, the cultural house of the residential group was lit up, everyone was urgent and dedicated.

Ms. Vu Thi Kim Quynh, Vice Chairwoman of Duc Xuan Ward People's Committee, said: In addition to banh chung, we also mobilized more than 50 cartons of bottled water, hundreds of loaves of bread, fried bread, and many other necessities such as milk, candles, lighters, flashlights, raincoats, cold medicine, etc. All were carefully prepared by ward officials and residents, neatly packaged to ensure convenience for transportation and distribution.

It is worth noting that all funding for this relief operation comes from socialized sources, the active contributions of neighborhood groups and benefactors. This is not only an effective mobilization of resources, but also a clear demonstration of the spirit of solidarity and sharing that always exists in the community.

In recent days, images of hundreds of hot meals prepared early in the morning, warm banh chung cakes delivered at night, or the tearful eyes of mothers and sisters preparing each package of milk and noodles to send to flood-affected areas... have spread widely on social media platforms and in the community. These are not just actions of a few individuals, but a vivid manifestation of community strength and solidarity.
