The struggle between good and evil on the thin line
The film “The Border” was created by a team of experienced and hard-working scriptwriters such as writer Pham Ngoc Tien, screenwriter Vu Liem (People's Police Cinema), screenwriter Trung Dung and a familiar scriptwriting team of VFC, with close and effective advice and support from officials of the Supreme People's Procuracy .
To get this script, the authors spent a lot of time going into the field, talking and learning with real people and real events.
“The Line” is a political film, addressing many hot issues in society such as corruption, taking advantage of positions for personal gain, group interests, cover-ups and protection... The film tells the story of Viet Dong province during the merger period, which is also an important and sensitive time, bringing many challenges to leaders such as Secretary Tran Son (People's Artist Trong Trinh), Provincial Chairman Nguyen Van Thuy (Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong) or Deputy Secretary Le Dinh Sach (People's Artist Trung Anh) - those who directly shoulder the responsibility of arranging personnel, preparing for a new machine. They sometimes fall into a situation where they are forced to choose: compromise or confrontation. The process of streamlining the apparatus is a test of the morality of the whole system.

One of the hot spots that the leadership of Viet Dong province has to worry about is the Trinh Tam apartment project - a project that is considered a symbol of the province's development, but has revealed many violations such as congestion in the process of returning red books and distorted planning. Trinh Van Khac, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction (Tien Loc), a close associate of Deputy Secretary Le Dinh Sach, and many other officials have fallen into the vortex. Pham Ngoc Trien (Manh Truong), Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, with his role and position, had to arrange everything to be as smooth as possible.

Bui Hang Thu (Hong Diem), Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Provincial People's Procuracy, directly supervises the Trinh Tam apartment building case. But the deeper she and her colleagues dig, the more they discover the heartbreaking truth that from small inspectors to those sitting in powerful positions, anyone can get caught up in the law. Bui Hang Thu herself also faces pressure from above and has a hard time choosing between changing positions to advance her career or continuing to the end to protect justice.
As a political film, "The Line" escapes dry, one-sided filmmaking formulas, but reflects the breath of the times in terms of appointment, rotation, and arrangement of personnel, which is not only an administrative procedure, but also a measure of ethics, transparency of qualities and will.
The characters in “The Line” do not clearly define who is bad and who is good, but are people standing on the thin line between good and bad, between kindness, seriousness and shady, selfishness. No one is completely good or completely bad, but there will be changes and from there can be self-preservation or not.
Famous cast
Participating in the film, as well as many other mainstream films of VFC, are talented, experienced and beloved artists of television dramas.
The audience will meet again veteran artists such as People's Artist Trung Anh, People's Artist Trong Trinh, Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong, as key figures of Viet Dong province.
Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong said that this is not the first time he has played an official. In 2011, he played the role of Provincial Chairman Nguyen Tri Tue in the film "Provincial Chairman". Both films are about the struggle between good and bad, between positive and negative. The two roles of Provincial Chairman have different views on good and bad. The interesting point about the roles in "The Line" is that positive or negative, good or bad are all disguised in very clever ways of expression. "As society develops, it becomes more civilized, people's awareness becomes deeper, their evaluation becomes more discerning. Therefore, not only is the bad disguised, but the good must also be disguised to fight the bad more effectively. That is why the struggle between good and bad here is much more complicated" - Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong confided.

In addition, the supporting characters in the film are also played by many other veteran artists, such as People's Artists Thanh Quy, Tat Binh, Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang...
The next generation of actors, in addition to two familiar faces Manh Truong and Hong Diem, also includes Doan Quoc Dam, Ngoc Quynh, Duong Anh Duc, Ha Viet Dung, Anh Dao, Bao Anh, Huyen Trang...
Sharing about the cast, director, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Mai Hien said that his point of view when making his first film is to choose beautiful actors, so that the audience can see and feel love first. “As for my cast, in addition to beauty, they also have talent. With some roles in this film, most of the time when I invited them, the actors agreed. If they refused, it would be very difficult for me to choose someone else to replace them” - the director confided.

Not to the point of tailoring, but according to director Mai Hien, to have a satisfactory cast for a political film is quite difficult. Not only must they have good looks and good acting ability, but the dialogue of films like “The Border” is also a huge challenge for actors with many specialized languages, difficult to remember, and rarely encountered in life. During the filming process, the cast from old to young also encountered many difficulties in understanding and speaking fluently these specialized languages.
Political films are always attractive to audiences and are not easy to make. The political film genre has marked the success of many films such as “Sinh Tu”, “Dau Tri”… With “Lan Bien”, audiences have another option to learn more about the struggle to push back evil in personnel work, as well as understand other aspects of the work of prosecutors.
As comrade Tran Hai Quan, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy, confided about the film, this project not only aims to introduce the image of the people's procuracy, but more importantly, contributes to spreading the spirit of "Rule of law - Protection of justice - Maintenance of discipline" to the general public through the language of cinema.
The film airs on VTV at 9pm every day of the week from Monday to Friday.
