Ly Van Huynh competes for the belt with Do Thanh Chuong at LION Championship 27

The highlight of the MMA martial arts event - LION Championship 27 (LC 27) on the evening of October 11 was the dramatic confrontation between two 77kg boxers Ly Van Huynh and Do Thanh Chuong.

The match between the two Vietnamese fighters is considered by experts to be pivotal, considered the "gateway" to the prestigious championship belt of the top MMA tournament in Vietnam. The winner will become a candidate for the vacant 77kg championship belt.

Ly Van Huynh lost to South African boxer Armando de Crescenzo in the 77kg title match at the LC19 event. Returning at LC27, Van Huynh is determined to reassert his position.

On the other side of the ring, Do Thanh Chuong is the one who attracted attention with his knockout victory over Le Hoang Nhat Long at the 2024 tournament. He announced his comeback after a year of absence from the ring.

The match between the two Vietnamese boxers is considered by experts to be pivotal. The winner will become the official candidate for the vacant 77kg championship belt.

In the main event of LC27, Vietnamese Muay Thai champion Tran Quoc Tuan will make his MMA Striking debut against Thai fighter Vorapon Jayamram - a former WBC international Muay Thai champion and two-time ONE Championship appearance holder.

The match is expected to be a top competition between two traditional Vietnamese Muay Thai styles - Thai MMA.

Another clash of the event is the 65kg MMA Striking final. Nguyen Van Lam, who has two consecutive victories, will meet Luu Huy Duc again. In their previous meeting in the quarterfinals, Van Lam won by a narrow margin in a controversial match.

Huy Duc returned thanks to a "rescue" opportunity after his opponent in the remaining bracket withdrew, and proved his progress by defeating veteran boxer Dinh Van Can in the semi-finals. The rematch between the two young talents promises to bring a fiery match.

LION Championship 27 also features a series of MMA Pro matches and the MMA Striking 60kg semi-finals, with the following pairs: Dinh Van Khuyen - Bui Dinh Khai, Vo Vu Le - Tran Le Phi Khanh, Pham Van Hao - Tran Van Trong, KPa Thuan - Nguyen Tan An, Phan Trong Hieu - Tran Vi Quang, and Vo Tien Dat - Tran Huy Hai.

The event starts at 8:00 p.m. on October 11 and will be broadcast live on VTVcab and the LION Championship social network.
