Jaylin Williams has a Vietnamese grandmother. His mother is half Vietnamese. He was born in Arkansas in 2002. He grew up in the American school basketball environment. In 2022, he joined the Oklahoma City Thunder team and served as a reserve player.
However, the more Williams plays, the more mature he becomes and makes important contributions. In the NBA this season, the 22-year-old center has achieved career-best statistics, such as 5.9 points/game, 5.6 rebounds/game and 0.6 blocks/game - important statistics for a center.
In the championship playoffs, the 22-year-old was a strategic reserve. In Game 6 of the Finals against the Pacers, Williams played 12 minutes but still contributed 7 points and 5 rebounds to bring an important victory, setting the stage for the home team to win the championship after Game 7 this morning.

Thus, by leading the Thunder to the throne, Williams became the first Vietnamese-American player to win the NBA championship, the most attractive basketball tournament on the planet. Williams is perhaps the most successful figure in the community of Vietnamese-American sports athletes.
Besides Williams, there was another Vietnamese-American player in the NBA. That was Johnny Juzang. He played for 2 seasons with the Utah Jazz. After not being selected for the first team, this player was relegated to the lower leagues to play for Salt Lake City. Twin sisters Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy left the US to continue their careers. In women's soccer, Jaedyn Shaw, whose mother is Vietnamese, is also very prominent when she played 26 matches for the US national team and scored 8 goals.
