On October 17, at the workshop "Orientation for Da Nang tourism development in the new period", Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that the period 2026-2030 will be a period of strong recovery and transformation of Vietnam tourism, focusing on green development, technology application, product diversification and service quality improvement.
Particularly for Da Nang - a major tourist center of the country - the National Tourism Administration identifies this as the hub of the Central Coast region, with a strategic location, possessing a rich natural and cultural ecosystem, connecting many world heritages.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, spoke at the conference.
Mr. Khanh emphasized that, besides the strengths of sea tourism and heritage, Son Tra peninsula needs to be developed into a symbol of green eco-tourism, both preserving nature and creating unique experiences for tourists.
Climate-resilient tourism
Director Nguyen Trung Khanh suggested that Da Nang focus on environmental protection and green tourism development, considering Son Tra as a key area to implement a tourism model adapting to climate change, preserving coral reefs, forest and marine ecosystems. The city needs to establish conservation areas, control waste, limit overexploitation, and encourage businesses to use environmentally friendly materials, reduce emissions and promote renewable energy in accommodation facilities.

Red-shanked douc langur in Son Tra peninsula
Da Nang is also encouraged to develop unique eco-tourism products in Son Tra, combining nature experiences with environmental education such as watching douc langurs, trekking, boating, sports tourism, or participating in environmental protection activities. The goal is to make Son Tra a typical destination for Vietnam's green tourism model, contributing to positioning the brand "Da Nang - city of sea tourism, festivals and green creativity".
According to the orientation to 2030, Da Nang strives to become the leading resort, festival and creative destination in Southeast Asia. Mr. Khanh suggested that the city continue to invest in expanding Da Nang International Airport to a capacity of 25-30 million passengers/year; develop Tien Sa Port into a port specializing in serving luxury cruise ships; complete coastal and Han River transport infrastructure and provide Internet and 5G coverage at tourist destinations.

Tourism in Son Tra peninsula is currently not properly exploited.
Director Nguyen Trung Khanh affirmed that with the orientation of sustainable development, focusing on technology and environmental protection - especially the development of Son Tra eco-tourism - along with the support of businesses and experts, Da Nang can completely become a leading destination in the region.
Da Nang tourism grows strongly after merger
Also at the workshop, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said that after the merger, the city's tourism industry continued to grow impressively.
In the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of visitors will reach about 14.4 million, an increase of more than 22% over the same period in 2024; of which, international visitors will reach 5.8 million (up 27.4%), domestic visitors will reach nearly 8.6 million (up 19%). Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and travel services is estimated at nearly 41 trillion VND, an increase of more than 25% over the previous year.
According to Ms. Hanh, Da Nang is entering a new development phase with a 10-fold expansion of space, rich resources and rich identity. However, the city also faces the need to synchronize infrastructure, improve service quality and attract investment resources to complete the tourism product system.
