Honoring VietinBank - a typical member of 30 years of accompanying SWIFT

On the afternoon of October 15, 2025 in Hanoi, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) coordinated with SWIFT to organize the 30th Anniversary of SWIFT's presence in Vietnam. At this event, VietinBank was honored to receive the Commemorative Medal honoring outstanding members of 30 years of accompanying SWIFT.

In 1995, an event marked an important milestone in domestic and international electronic payment technology for Vietnamese banks - the presence of SWIFT in Vietnam. Becoming a member of SWIFT from the very beginning, VietinBank has spent three decades cooperating with SWIFT in connecting to a safe, secure and seamless international payment network.

Within the framework of the SWIFT Annual Conference held in Vietnam, Ms. Le Minh Huong - Deputy Director of Operations Division was honored to represent VietinBank to receive the Commemorative Medal for 30 years of accompanying SWIFT. The Commemorative Medal is a recognition and honor for outstanding members who have made positive contributions to the journey of building and developing Vietnam's international payment network.

VietinBank has been an active participant in SWIFT's innovation initiatives such as the ISO 20022 GPI standard, SWIFT-Go, SWIFT pre-validation... In 2018, VietinBank was one of the first two banks in Vietnam and one of the first 80 banks globally to successfully deploy SWIFT GPI. This breakthrough brings customers superior international payment service quality by increasing speed, transparency and transaction traceability. Commemorative medal honoring outstanding members of 30 years of accompanying SWIFT

As one of the leading banks in trade finance in Vietnam as well as having a large TF electricity flow; VietinBank is currently the Deputy Head of the Trade Finance Standards Support Group VNTF_SR2023/2024/2025. The SWIFT expert team at VietinBank always contributes accurate opinions and is always recognized by SWIFT.

Regarding the SWIFT format conversion project according to ISO 20022 standard, VietinBank determined that this is not just a SWIFT format conversion project; therefore, VietinBank has upgraded it to become a comprehensive digital transformation initiative with the participation of over 240 people from 7 business and technology units. The Trade Finance, Supply Chain, Treasury, and Remittance channels were all deployed 2-7 months earlier than the expected milestone of November 2025. Accordingly, on October 6, 2025, VietinBank launched the big bang of the entire initiative on the Payment Hub platform with the goal of: Proactive - Internal strength - Effectiveness. Up to now, VietinBank's outgoing MX rate has reached 90% - much higher than the average of 60% of Vietnamese commercial banks.
