Here, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized that Vietnam's agricultural sector plays a particularly important role in ensuring food security and social stability, but in the current context, it has been facing many difficulties, especially from climate change, market fluctuations and changes in world consumption trends.

Minister Le Minh Hoan affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to close coordination between countries and stakeholders in the food system to create profound changes to the whole system. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has applied "land area increase" technology, focusing on intensive farming measures, creating productivity many times higher than the world average.

Minister Le Minh Hoan also proposed a number of key contents that Vietnam hopes to cooperate with the Netherlands and other parties as follows:

First, promote the transformation of the food system towards green, low-emission and sustainable.

Second, investment in agricultural infrastructure development not only serves production but also serves rural economic development; develops agricultural and rural tourism, considers integrating gender equality, and consolidates and enhances the role of agricultural production households.

The two ministers launched the Empower Youth for Food program, which aims to change the way young people think about agriculture and agricultural jobs.

Third, build and balance the national food sector as a basis for production and distribution orientation; strengthen education and raise awareness of practice, create healthy eating habits, save consumption, reduce food loss and waste, promote green and sustainable consumption.

Fourth, promote the linkage of domestic and cross-border innovation networks.

Fifth, promote cooperation and information sharing to promote trade and food security through a stable and long-term balance of supply and demand; strengthen activities to prevent and mitigate natural disaster risks, and cooperate in early warning of natural disasters and epidemics.

Minister Christianne van der Wal said that for decades, the Netherlands and Vietnam have worked closely and effectively together in the agricultural sector. However, the new context requires the two countries to continue to deepen cooperation in various fields and empower the younger generation to build sustainable food systems.

Ms. Christianne also said that the participation of young people demonstrates the connection between the past, present and future. In addition, the two countries must not only commit on paper but also translate it into concrete, practical actions.

At the same time, building on Dutch achievements in food production both in terms of quantity and efficiency, the Netherlands is moving the sector towards a more sustainable approach and intends to share knowledge with its trading partners.
