In this match, the son of French legend Zinedine Zidane, goalkeeper Luca Zidane (27 years old), was called up to the Algerian national team for the first time. However, he did not play, but sat on the bench throughout the match for Alexis Guendouz.

Striker Mohamed Amoura had a beautiful volley from inside the box to open the score 1-0 for Algeria in the 7th minute. Then Riyad Mahrez increased the score to 2-0 in the 19th minute, then Mohamed Amoura sealed the 3-0 victory in the 57th minute.

With this result, Algeria has secured the top spot in Group G with 22 points, 4 points more than the second-placed Uganda while there is only 1 match left in this round. This means that Algeria will become the 20th team in the world to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

They are also the fourth African nation to do so, joining Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. Africa has a total of nine direct spots plus one intercontinental play-off spot for this expanded World Cup.

Algeria last appeared at the World Cup in 2014 in Brazil, where they enjoyed a historic run to the round of 16, before narrowly losing 2-1 to eventual champions Germany after 120 minutes.
