The working group inspected the dyke area of 750 Thanh Nien canal pairs in Nhon Hoa Lap commune.

According to records, floodwaters combined with local rains are putting great pressure on many production areas. In Nhon Hoa Lap commune, more than 3,180 hectares of rice in the half-dyke area are facing the risk of being flooded. The highest risk is concentrated at the 750-dyke line along Thanh Nien canal, with more than 300 hectares of rice in Nhon Hoa Lap commune and about 100 hectares in Moc Hoa commune. This dike line has a small base, weak structure, and is difficult to reinforce, while the water level is nearly 2 meters higher than the field surface, posing a risk of dike overflow if heavy rain or high tides continue to rise.

All 200 durian trees of Mr. Huynh Van Hat in Vinh Thanh commune were submerged in water.

Notably, in Vinh Thanh commune, the flood broke the dike, damaging 28.5 hectares of rice and 8 hectares of fruit trees; another 180 hectares are also under threat. In Vinh Chau commune, nearly 8,000 hectares of production area are also at risk of flooding.

Many pumps and Kobe must operate continuously to pump out water and reinforce the embankment.

Through field surveys, the working group requested localities to urgently review and reinforce weak embankments, and proactively implement plans for drainage and flood prevention. Relevant units need to regularly monitor the development of flood water levels and high tides to promptly handle arising situations, especially in the context of the forecast that the second high tide in October will appear on October 23-24./.
