Bellingham's brother collapses

Jobe Bellingham is struggling at Dortmund amid family pressure, difficulty integrating and the giant shadow of his brother Jude.

Family problems prevented Jobe from playing football comfortably.

Jobe had a shaky start at Dortmund, when he was supposed to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Jude. Instead of a successful journey, the 20-year-old player was stuck in personal problems and had difficulty adapting to the new environment.

Joining Dortmund in June for £27 million and signing a five-year contract, Jobe was expected to become Jude's "successor". But after only the first nine games, he has not scored or assisted and is often on the bench under coach Niko Kovac.

His Bundesliga debut in August ended in disappointment when Jobe was withdrawn at half-time in a draw with St. Pauli, prompting his father, Mark Bellingham, to complain directly to sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Dortmund later issued a statement confirming that "the professional activity area is only for players, coaches and management, not family or representatives". Some sources in Germany said that Mark was even "banned" from the dressing room after the incident.

Jode has yet to score or assist for Dortmund.

Bild newspaper revealed that Mark has often expressed frustration about his son's lack of playing time, with Jobe behind Felix Nmecha, Marcel Sabitzer and Pascal Grob in the midfield pecking order. But according to the Daily Mail , the real reason lies in "personal problems" as his parents - Mark and Denise, are said to have been separated for many years and currently live in two different countries.

A source from the British newspaper said: "The coaching staff noticed that Jobe was being affected by family problems. He had difficulty integrating, hardly communicated with his teammates and was often alone at home. The tense atmosphere in the family was affecting his performance on the field."

Although there has been no official confirmation, Jobe's loneliness in Germany is worrying experts. Having once called his parents "wonderful people" and "the biggest idols" in his career, Jobe is now mentally broken and struggling to find the joy of playing football again.

Jobe needs to find his balance both on and off the pitch soon. His future at Dortmund is still wide open, but he needs to prove that character is what makes a star, not the Bellingham on the back of his shirt.
