Gia Lai: Timely rescue of people who fell into wells

On October 15, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu My Bac commune, Mr. Dang Dinh Trieu, said: Phu My Bac commune police ( Gia Lai province) just saved the life of a farmer who fell into an abandoned well while working in the fields.

Previously, at around 7:00 a.m. on October 14, Mr. Phan Van Hoa (born in 1962, residing in Vinh Thuan village) went to the acacia garden to clear shoots and look for honey but did not return home.

Late at night, when Mr. Hoa did not return home, the family quickly reported to the commune. Immediately after receiving the information, the commune directed the police force to coordinate with the village and the family to search.

On the morning of October 15, the commune continued to mobilize more militia and self-defense forces, officers and soldiers of the commune's military command to expand the search directions and at about 8:00 a.m. on October 15, they discovered Mr. Hoa lying in the well.

This is an abandoned well, about 12m deep, located in the acacia plantation of Mr. Phan Van Hung (born in 1990, in Tan Oc village, Phu My Bac commune).

The well had no walls and was covered by trees, making it difficult to detect. Observing from the mouth of the well, the working group determined that Mr. Hoa was lying motionless, breathing weakly.

Due to the dangerous terrain and lack of specialized vehicles to bring the victim to safety, the Commune Police contacted the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area No. 4 (Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Gia Lai Provincial Police) for support.

At about 11 o'clock the same day, the rescue team brought Mr. Hoa safely to the ground.

However, after nearly a day in the well, Mr. Hoa's health was quite weak. The medical team provided first aid and then took Mr. Hoa to Bong Son Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment.

On the afternoon of October 15, the People's Committee of the commune organized a ceremony to reward the forces that participated in the timely rescue of the victims; and also went to Bong Son Regional General Hospital to visit and encourage Mr. Hoa and his family.

According to Chairman Dang Dinh Trieu, this result is considered the first exercise of the commune's civil defense force after the establishment of a two-level local government because it promptly deployed measures to rescue victims./.
