Applying technology to improve the quality of solutions
According to General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) Le Tri Truong, the 2025 season marks a milestone when the referee support camera system (Video Challenge Eyes) is installed for the first time at the final round of the A-class tournament - where many young and potential teams gather.
The system will operate from the semi-finals, helping referees accurately determine sensitive situations such as the ball touching the block, the ball near the boundary or the net. Although not yet applied in the group stage, the bold investment shows the direction of synchronizing technology at all levels of the tournament, creating a comprehensive professional foundation. "Video Challenge Eyes not only supports accurate decision making but also makes the match more transparent and attractive," Mr. Le Tri Truong affirmed.
In previous seasons, many controversial situations have affected the results of the competition. The presence of Video Challenge Eyes is expected to minimize errors, helping athletes compete with peace of mind and fans gain more confidence. With this step forward, Vietnamese volleyball is approaching international standards, from organization to refereeing.
If Video Challenge Eyes is the highlight of technology, then the quality of the players is the highlight. The 2025 A-League finals saw 6 foreign players registered – a record number in the A-League, showing the increasing attraction and investment.

In the women's category, Hanoi Tasco Auto attracted attention when recruiting two international stars: main striker Adora Anae (USA) and middle striker Kaewkalaya Kamulthala (Thailand). Both not only bring attacking power but also inspire and improve the playing style of their young teammates. With this addition, Hanoi aims to win a promotion back to the National Championship in 2026.
Bac Ninh also invested heavily when bringing in the pair Eva Zatkovic (Slovakia) and Nannaphat Moonjakham (Thailand). Both have a modern, powerful playing style, helping the team improve its scoring efficiency. Quang Ninh chose a streamlined direction with main striker Julia Sangiacomo (USA) - an excellent wing attack, solid defense, who shined in the Indonesian tournament.

In the men’s category, the focus is on national player Nguyen Van Quoc Duy – who has just joined Vinh Long, a new team formed after the merger of three old teams Tra Vinh, Ben Tre and Vinh Long. With a powerful smash, the ability to bounce and serve strongly, “NishiDuy” is expected to help the Western team create a surprise. Alongside him is Le Ngoc Tri, a hitter who played prominently for Da Nang, creating a formidable setter pair.
Coach Tran Dang Thanh (Ha Tinh) commented: “The A-class tournament has never been as exciting as this year. The participation of foreign players and national players has significantly raised the level of expertise. This is a good sign for the development of Vietnamese volleyball.”
Fierce competition for promotion tickets
This year's final round has 7 men's teams including Vinh Long, Ha Tinh, Mobile Police Command, Binh Duong Construction Materials, Military Region 3, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang Youth; and 8 women's teams including Quang Ninh, Information Corps Youth, VTV Youth Binh Dien Long An, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi and Hai Phong.
The teams will compete in a round robin format, with the top two advancing to the semi-finals. The men’s and women’s champions will receive the sole promotion to the 2026 National Championship – a prestigious prize that caps off a grueling season.

According to experts, the women's tournament promises to be exciting with the race between Hanoi Tasco Auto, Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh - three teams with foreign players and equal strength. In the men's tournament, the promotion race is predicted to be fierce between Vinh Long (with Quoc Duy), Binh Duong and host Ha Tinh - teams with stable performance.
Not only is it a playground for ambitious teams, the A-League is also an opportunity for young teams like Tre Thong tin or Tre VTV Binh Dien Long An to hone their skills and gain experience in high-level competitions. The combination of young, ambitious players and experienced foreign players has created a new look – a quality A-League with depth and a professional atmosphere.

The synchronous investment in organization, technology and athlete quality shows that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation is determined to comprehensively improve the domestic tournament system. The 2025 A-League is not only a launching pad for young teams aiming for the national championship, but also a place to test modern organizational models, preparing for the long-term future.
The 2025 National A-Class Volleyball Championship is not just a tournament – it is a testament to change. When technology, people and aspirations come together on the field, Vietnamese volleyball is showing that it is ready to enter a new phase: modern, professional and reaching the regional level.
