Hanoi gives more than 120 thousand gifts to meritorious people

The plan aims to propagate and educate revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, the dedication and sacrifice of heroic martyrs and those who have contributed to the country; raise the sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors and people of the capital in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, especially paying attention and taking care of wounded soldiers, relatives of martyrs and those who have contributed to the revolution...

Accordingly, the city organized many key activities, such as: Promoting the movements "Repaying gratitude", "Drinking water, remembering its source", "Communes, wards and towns do a good job of supporting war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services", contributing to encouraging and taking care of the lives of families of people with meritorious services.

The city strives for 100% of households with meritorious people to have a stable basic living standard equal to or higher than the average living standard of the local people; 100% of living Vietnamese heroic mothers are well cared for in terms of material and spiritual life, ensuring the best life, such as: receiving support, sponsorship, building new or repairing houses, upgrading living facilities...

In addition, the city continues to mobilize agencies, unions, political , economic and social organizations to support martyr mothers who have just been awarded the honorary title of "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" by the State, with a support level of 2 million VND/person/month or more.

On this occasion, the city plans to give 120,551 gifts with a total cost of 190.72 billion VND to policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

To implement the policy for meritorious people well, the City People's Committee requires organizing practical and effective commemorative activities, mobilizing all party members, cadres, youth, young generation and people of the capital to respond and participate. Implementing well the visiting and giving of gifts to ensure the right subjects, full policies and regimes, timely according to current financial regulations; mobilizing maximum social resources with many diverse and rich forms to bring practical results to better care for meritorious people.

The City People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors, the Fatherland Front and city organizations; People's Committees of districts, towns to focus on leading and directing the organization of visits and gift giving, ensuring compliance with policies, with the right subjects, publicly and democratically; proactively detect and strictly handle cases of violations, policy abuse, and incomplete gift payments according to regulations.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs promptly and fully implements the preferential policies of the Party and the State for people with meritorious services as prescribed in the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution and other preferential policies; well organizes the nurturing and nursing of people with meritorious services; nurtures, cares for and treats the biological children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals used by the US during the Vietnam War; continues to review and resolve the backlog of cases for people with meritorious services to the Revolution according to the guidance of central ministries and branches.
