Hoan Kiem District has just proposed that the Hanoi People's Committee limit the maximum speed in the Old Quarter to 30km/h to facilitate the operation of green vehicles, especially electric tourist cars.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen has just assigned the Department of Construction to consider the proposal of the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee to allow the addition of signs limiting the maximum speed in the Old Quarter to 30km/h for all vehicles participating in traffic.

According to Decree 165 of the Government , from February 15, four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines, including electric motors, can only operate on roads with signs limiting speed to 30km/h.
On urban routes and mixed traffic routes over 30km, electric vehicles are not allowed to operate.
The Department of Construction said that in Hanoi, the city currently has four-wheeled electric car routes to transport tourists, these routes are operating in the area of Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarter, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and West Lake.
Regarding the tram routes running in the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, and West Lake, the representative of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that these are areas where vehicles are restricted from entering, and currently many roads and streets where motor vehicles can only travel at a speed of 10 - 20 km/h, so the Department of Construction is coordinating with the authorities to make appropriate adjustments and additions to traffic signs.
It is known that in the proposal to remove the above content, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long emphasized: For many years, the old quarter has had a high population density and a large number of people passing through to participate in commercial activities. On weekends, a walking space is currently being organized.
According to Mr. Long, Hoan Kiem district has long been considered one of the city's key tourist areas, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
However, the streets in the old quarter mostly have narrow cross-sections (with roadways less than 7m wide), so vehicles currently move regularly at an average speed of only 20 - 30km/h.
This is also the appropriate speed for tourist electric cars when participating in traffic in Hanoi's Old Quarter (maximum speed 30km/h).
Based on the above reality, Hoan Kiem district proposed that, in order to facilitate the deployment of green means of transport, especially electric tourist vehicles which are a type of transport that does not emit emissions, the City People's Committee allows the addition of signs limiting the maximum speed in the Old Quarter to 30km/h for all types of vehicles participating in traffic.
Previously, the 4-wheel electric car route running from Hoan Kiem Lake to Thang Long Imperial Citadel had just stopped operating due to new regulations only allowing 4-wheel electric cars to operate on roads with speed limit signs up to 30km/h. Meanwhile, a representative of Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company said that the company has imported cars to run on the Hoan Kiem Lake - Thang Long Imperial Citadel route for nearly a year now, and the number of tourists traveling has begun to stabilize.
