The Southern Trade Promotion and Import-Export Promotion Conference has the theme "Enhancing production, trade, service and investment connections with Cambodian partners".
The event, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the People's Committees of provinces and cities in the Southern region and relevant agencies of Cambodia, is expected to gather about 200 - 250 delegates who are leaders of ministries, branches, localities, industry associations and a large number of businesses from both countries operating in the fields of agriculture - forestry - fisheries, food, consumer goods, textiles, footwear, construction materials, machinery and equipment, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, logistics and trade services.
The conference is a key activity within the framework of the National Trade Promotion Program 2025, aiming to promote import and export in the Southern region, strengthen regional connectivity, and expand Vietnam - Cambodia border economic cooperation, thereby contributing to sustainable economic development and improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises.
The conference will take place on October 17, 2025 in Vinh Te ward, An Giang province.
According to a representative of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the conference is not only a policy dialogue forum but also an opportunity for Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses to meet, share experiences, and seek new cooperation opportunities.
“We hope that through this forum, the business communities of the two countries will have more opportunities to access information, connect with partners, and expand their cooperation networks in areas with potential and complementary strengths,” said a representative of the Trade Promotion Agency.
The conference will present a variety of practical content: The policy discussion will focus on discussing five important groups of topics, from perfecting mechanisms and policies to facilitate trade and investment; developing border gate infrastructure - border logistics; to promoting production and trade cooperation in key areas, expanding trade in services and the digital economy, as well as establishing a long-term coordination mechanism between management agencies, associations and businesses of the two countries.
The business representatives will provide practical perspectives, share cooperation experiences and expectations for the future. The presentations will discuss the role of An Giang as a "strategic bridge" in bilateral trade cooperation, the initiative of Cambodian businesses in the regional value chain, and the orientation to enhance the role of industry associations in supporting businesses to connect trade.
This was followed by the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between businesses and agencies of the two countries - a highlight demonstrating a commitment to specific cooperation in bilateral production, trade and investment.
Turning the Vietnam - Cambodia border area into a dynamic trading center
In particular, on the sidelines of the Conference, there will be a combination of tables displaying typical products of localities in and outside the Southern region along with products of Cambodian enterprises, to support businesses of the two countries to promote their brands, introduce products, connect trade and seek opportunities for substantive cooperation.
This activity also opens the door to welcome people, cooperatives, and local economic organizations to visit, learn about products and border trade cooperation trends, contributing to spreading the spirit of integration and innovation in the business community and people in the area.
According to the assessment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this year's conference is expected to create a positive change in trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Cambodia. Through exchanges, connections and signing of cooperation agreements, the two sides aim to promote the export of goods, balance the trade balance, strengthen the production and distribution chain linkages in border areas, and build a regular and effective coordination mechanism between management agencies, industry associations and businesses of the two countries.
These results will contribute to turning the Vietnam-Cambodia border area into a dynamic trading center, playing an important role in the supply chain of the Southern region and Southeast Asia.
With the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of localities in the Southern region, along with a large number of businesses and representatives of Cambodian agencies - the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, the Conference on Trade Promotion, Import-Export Promotion in the Southern Region in 2025 promises to be an important forum to enhance understanding, cooperation and sustainable development between the two neighboring countries of Vietnam - Cambodia.
