More than 23,000 jars of fake bird's nest were discovered in Phu Tho and transferred to the police for investigation.

(Dan Tri) - More than 23,000 jars of bird's nest stewed by Tuan Duong & TKT Bird's Nest Company Limited were identified as counterfeit goods, with the value of the shipment exceeding 900 million VND. The provincial Market Management Department has transferred the case to the police for investigation.

Information from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said that in early June, Market Management Team No. 7, Phu Tho Province Market Management Department coordinated with functional agencies to suddenly inspect the production and trading activities of Tuan Duong & TKT Bird's Nest Company Limited in Thanh Son town, Thanh Son district and business location in Gia Cam ward, Viet Tri city.

At the time of inspection, the inspection team discovered and temporarily detained 23,468 bird's nest products that showed signs of not meeting the quality standards as compared to the self-declared product. Market Management Team No. 7 took 8 bird's nest samples from this company for quality testing.

The authorities said that according to the test results from the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene Control for 8 product samples, all of the bird's nest samples did not meet the main quality standards compared to the self-declaration of the enterprise. Specifically, the protein content only reached from 18% to 58%, while the lipid content only reached about 3% compared to the level announced on the product label.

Based on the test results, on June 18, Market Management Team No. 7 conducted a working session with representatives of Tuan Duong & TKT Bird's Nest Company Limited, thereby determining that all 23,468 products temporarily detained were counterfeit goods, with a total value of over 900 million VND.

Seeing signs of the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food, foodstuffs, and food additives", the authorities said that Market Management Team No. 7 has transferred the entire case file and evidence of the violation to the Investigation Police Agency - Phu Tho Provincial Police to continue investigating and handling according to the law.

Tuan Duong & TKT Bird's Nest Company Limited was established on November 2, 2023. The company is legally represented by Mr. Bui Minh Quyet, its main business lines are wholesaling food and producing processed foods.
