Towards sustainable sports development

VHO - With the theme "Orientation of sports contributing to sustainable development", the 8th ASEAN Sports Ministers Meeting (AMMS-8) and related meetings in 2025 are an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its role and position in the region, while promoting cooperation and developing ASEAN sports in a comprehensive and sustainable direction.

This conference focused on discussing many important contents such as: Developing professional sports associated with science and sports economics to enhance international competitiveness; Promoting gender equality, encouraging the participation of women, youth and people with disabilities;

Preserving and promoting traditional sports , connecting with ASEAN culture and identity; Establishing the ASEAN High Performance Sports Center to create an environment for training, exchanging expertise and improving athletes' skills...

In addition, the Conference also promotes cooperation between ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners (Japan, China, South Korea, etc.) and international organizations, enhancing Vietnam's role and responsibility in ASEAN's specialized cooperation mechanism.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Le Thi Hoang Yen provided more information about the Conference.

At the press meeting, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Le Thi Hoang Yen said that the Conference is an important occasion to affirm Vietnam's role and position in the region , while promoting deeper and broader ASEAN sports cooperation .

Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen emphasized that the Conference also opened up opportunities for Vietnam to strengthen connections with countries with developed sports. Expand international cooperation, share experiences in management, training and sports development towards high performance and sustainable development .

According to Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen, sports today are not only associated with competition goals or achievements, but also a bridge to promote peace , friendship and cooperation for development between countries .

As the host country , Vietnam has the opportunity to both share experiences and learn from developed sports in the region, thereby raising the level of Vietnamese sports in the international arena .
