Luu Don Communal House is a place to worship General Cay Gao - the general who assisted Dinh Bo Linh in suppressing the 12 warlords, unifying the country, establishing Dai Co Viet and fighting against the invading Song army. In addition, the communal house also worships three mandarins of the Tran Dynasty, Nguyen Lieu Cong, Bui Cong Binh and Duong Manh Dai - who contributed greatly to the resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol army, along with local heroes and martyrs. In 1990, the Ministry of Culture and Information recognized Luu Don Communal House as a national historical and cultural relic.
The Luu Don Communal House Festival takes place over 3 days, from October 4 to 6 (August 13 to 15 of the lunar calendar). The main festival is held on October 5 with rituals, palanquin processions, incense offerings and many traditional cultural and artistic activities. This is an opportunity for people to remember the merits of their ancestors, educate the tradition of patriotism and promote local cultural identity.
