The film "Hanoi in Winter of 1946" by director Dang Nhat Minh is one of the classic films selected to be screened to serve the audience on this occasion.

From early morning, many movie-loving Hanoians were present at the National Cinema Center to watch this movie.

"As a history lover, I chose the movie "Hanoi in the winter of 1946" to watch. I really wanted to see through the screen the heroic historical images of our ancestors in the early days of the young Democratic Republic of Vietnam." - Phi Dam Nguyen, a student at Hanoi University of Pharmacy, shared.

“Hanoi Winter 46” is a film about Hanoi before the national resistance day, December 19, 1946 and the historical moment of the Capital. That is why the film has attracted many elderly people of the Capital to come and look back at the historical images of Hanoi in the past.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, who is 101 years old this year, and Director People's Artist Viet Huong attended this special film screening. "I am someone who has gone through the historical days of Hanoi, witnessed the changes of the capital, so I really want to see those familiar images through a cinematic perspective. I also really respect Director People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh, so I also wanted to come to congratulate the film crew" - Mr. Thanh Son shared.

Director Dang Nhat Minh, 86 years old, was helped onto the stage by artists to interact with the audience's applause.

The director said the idea for the film came from his emotions after studying many documents about the war. In addition, he wanted to make the work because his father, Dr. Dang Van Ngu, returned from Japan to join the resistance in 1949. The doctor successfully researched how to produce the antibiotics penicillin and streptomycin, contributing to the treatment of people against infections.

Hanoi in Winter 1946 records an important historical moment, when the negotiations at the Fontainebleau Conference in France failed, President Ho Chi Minh signed a provisional agreement with France to prepare to deal with the situation. The work also exploits the internal and external capabilities of the provisional government at that time. The film won many awards at the 12th Vietnam Film Festival in 1999, including the Silver Lotus Award, excellent director (Dang Nhat Minh), excellent cinematography (Vu Quoc Tuan), excellent artist (Pham Quoc Trung) and excellent musician (Do Hong Quan).

Artist Mai Thu Huyen shared that the project is one of the typical works about the war, so that the younger generation can learn more about the bomb and bullet period in the North. In 2023, Mai Thu Huyen watched the work with her daughter in the program Now it's October in Ho Chi Minh City. The actress said that her child really liked the film because it spread patriotism to the audience through many scenes. "I hope young people can watch films that reflect the history of the nation," she said.

People's Artist - Cinematographer Vu Quoc Tuan said he could not hold back his tears in many scenes depicting the pain of war. He was honored to be able to make a story inspired by real events. He and the film crew went to other provinces and cities such as Hung Yen and Hai Phong but still chose Hanoi because he thought the city had its own unique features. The crew had to prepare each set of costumes for the actors, research and create armored vehicle props, and repair the set. The work was set in 1946 but encountered difficulties with the filming location when filming in the late 1990s. Hanoi was planned and changed a lot, the team had to study the architecture of ancient buildings and focus on recreating the set.

Many audiences were moved when watching scenes from the movie "Hanoi in Winter 1946"...
