Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have a long-standing cultural and historical tradition, closely connected in terms of geography, history, tradition of fighting for national liberation, protecting independence and sovereignty , and in socio-economic development today.
The tradition of solidarity, attachment and mutual assistance between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is a valuable asset, the foundation for developing cooperative relations and mutual trust, and a key factor in promoting solidarity and attachment among the three countries.
In recent times, many trilateral cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have been established and effectively promoted, contributing practically to the consolidation and development of cooperation between the three countries. In particular, economic-trade-investment cooperation has made strong progress, but is still not commensurate with the good political-diplomatic relations.
At the tripartite meeting on the occasion of this Summit, the three countries' Prime Ministers agreed that economic-trade-investment cooperation needs strategic breakthroughs to match the stature of political relations and the potential and strengths of each country.
Appreciating the theme of this year's Summit, "ASEAN: Promoting Connectivity and Resilience", the Prime Minister hopes that the business community of ASEAN countries will continue to cooperate, support and contribute to helping the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia raise their economic ties to the same level as their geographical, historical and political-diplomatic ties.
