10 year dream
Dong Nhat Huy, 34 years old, a freelance photographer and designer in Vung Tau ward (HCMC), brought his 10-year-old dream to Mu Cang Chai ( Lao Cai ) in mid-September. The first time he saw the image of golden terraced fields on an old calendar, he was captivated by the highland nature. Due to his office job at that time, Huy could not make the trip. When he switched to freelance, he began to arrange and make his dream come true. The 4-day trip (September 18-21), although shorter than expected, was a complete time for Huy. He said that the first time he stood in front of the rice fields in Mu Cang Chai, he suddenly felt "overwhelmed and captivated". "Everywhere I go, I am once again surprised by what is displayed before my eyes. Even when holding the most modern camera in my hand, I still feel that I cannot fully convey the 'heart-stopping' beauty of this land," he told Tri Thuc - Znews.
Penthouses in the middle of rice fields
Initially, Huy intended to capture the golden color of the rice fields and the majesty of the mountains and forests. Then he realized that the small wooden houses on the hillsides, where people built them for farming and shelter, had an irresistible attraction. He jokingly called them "penthouses" that were precariously perched in the middle of the rice fields, both cute and making the scene more vivid. The wooden houses are scattered on the terraced fields from the raspberry hills in La Pan Tan, Kim Noi, the "rice hammocks" of Sang Nhu, Linh Chi to the horseshoe. "If there were only golden rice, the landscape would still lack a highlight. These small houses not only create depth for the frame but also highlight the liveliness of the rice fields, where people blend with nature," Huy shared.
