Faced with the complicated developments of heavy rain, many large supermarket chains in Hanoi have implemented plans to ensure the supply of essential goods.

According to the reporter's observations on October 1, the supply of green vegetables at the markets is still abundant. Many people who go to the market said that the price of green vegetables has increased slightly by about 5,000 VND per type.
Vegetables like water spinach, green mustard, and sweet mustard normally cost from 10,000 - 20,000 VND/bunch depending on the type, today they have increased slightly to 15,000 - 25,000 VND/bunch.
Meanwhile, the price of livestock and poultry meat remains stable. The price of pork belly and lean shoulder is 140,000 VND/kg, loin ribs 150,000 VND/kg, chicken 130,000 VND/kg, beef fluctuates between 250,000 - 280,000 VND/kg depending on the type...
Ms. Le Thi Yen, a vendor at Nguyen Thi Thap market (Thanh Xuan ward) said that this time, the price of green vegetables has been quite stable, instead of the sharp price increase like in previous storms.
Similarly, Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc - a vegetable seller at Thanh Cong market (Ba Dinh ward) said that the vegetable supply is abundant, traders can easily import goods, so they do not increase the selling price to consumers.
Before the storm, many farmers had already harvested vegetables to get to market in time. Transportation costs did not increase, so wholesale and retail prices remained unchanged.

Mr. Luong Van Dinh, a vegetable vendor at Nam Trung Yen market, also said that many people think that due to the heavy rain, prices will increase, but in reality, goods are still arriving at the market regularly, and import and selling prices have not fluctuated.
"At wholesale markets that specialize in supplying wholesale to small traders, the current selling price remains unchanged. If there is an increase, it will probably take a few days, at which point the supply will begin to be affected and transportation costs will also increase," said Ms. Le Thi Yen.

At supermarkets, grasping the complicated weather developments, many large supermarket chains in Hanoi have deployed plans to ensure the supply of essential goods to people for more than a week now.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Communications Director of Central Retail Group Vietnam, said that the GO! and Tops Market chains ensure sufficient supply of essential food products at stable prices, along with many promotional programs to support purchasing power.
Similarly, the Co.opmart and Co.op Food systems in the North have increased their stock of essential goods by 2-3 times compared to normal days. Goods focus on rice, instant noodles, eggs, meat, vegetables, spices, drinking water, hygiene products and emergency response items.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Director of Co.opmart Hanoi supermarket, said that 800 Co.opmart and Co.op Food points of sale have become satellite warehouses, closely coordinating with the distribution center to regulate goods sources in a timely manner.
A representative of the MM Mega Market Vietnam system said that essential goods such as dry food, drinks, vegetables, meat, fish, etc. are prioritized to ensure timely supply to people. Fresh goods such as vegetables, meat, and fish are imported in larger quantities than usual to meet people's needs.
