The highlight of the event was the Meta Ray-Ban Display, the company's first glasses to feature a built-in display, promising a future where the digital and real worlds blend into one.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display aims to bridge the gap between current audio-only smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) devices, marking a significant step forward in Meta's journey to building a metaverse.

The glasses cost $799: "These are the classic-looking glasses you'd expect from Ray-Ban, but they're the first AI glasses with a high-resolution display," Mark Zuckerberg shared.

The breakthrough of these glasses lies in a cleverly integrated small digital screen, allowing users to watch videos , read and reply to text messages right on the lenses.

This display is designed to remain unobstructed and will automatically disappear when not in use.

To interact with the screen, users will use the Meta Neural Band - a neurotechnology (EMG) bracelet - that allows control of the device with subtle hand gestures.

This combination opens up a completely new way of interacting that is more natural and seamless than having to touch your glasses or use your phone.

During the show, Zuckerberg tried unsuccessfully to call Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth multiple times, a moment that prompted him to admit: "This, you know, it still happens."

This little incident is a reminder that pioneering technology always comes with challenges.

In addition to the flagship glasses model, Meta also renews and expands its product line to reach a wider audience.

First up is the Oakley Meta Vanguard ($499); aimed at athletes who engage in high-intensity sports like skiing or mountain biking, this model has a sporty, wraparound design that hugs the temples.

The product is equipped with a physical button conveniently located under the glasses frame, helping users easily take photos and record videos even while wearing a helmet.

With up to 9 hours of battery life, 3K video recording, and a louder built-in speaker, the Vanguard can connect to Garmin watches to track health metrics through the Meta AI assistant. It will launch on October 21.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 ($379): This is an upgraded version of the original smart glasses, with worthy improvements. Battery life is doubled, up to 8 hours on a single charge. The camera is also upgraded with the ability to record 3K Ultra HD quality video. With a slightly increased price compared to the previous generation, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 was available on the market immediately after the event.

During the event, Zuckerberg also announced Horizon TV, a new entertainment platform that will allow users to watch TV shows, sports events, and movies through Quest VR. With partnerships from giants like Disney and Universal Pictures, Meta is clearly showing its strategy of building a rich content ecosystem to support its hardware ambitions.

The new products, developed through a long-term strategic partnership with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, show that Meta is seriously investing in a future where computers are no longer on desks or in pockets, but worn right in front of our eyes.
