Hoa Hong Kindergarten, Ha Giang 2 Ward: Many children and teachers have symptoms of vomiting, fever, and diarrhea.

Since October 14, at Hoa Hong Kindergarten, Ha Giang 2 Ward, there have been cases of children and teachers showing abnormal health symptoms such as vomiting, fever and loose stools.

The inspection team checked the food sample storage cabinet at Hoa Hong Kindergarten.

Specifically, on the morning of October 14, the homeroom teacher of the 18-24 month old class received a notice from parents that 11/21 children in the class were absent due to the above symptoms. By the afternoon of October 15, two more children in this class were recorded with similar symptoms. On the morning of October 16, six more children in the 3-year-old B class were absent with similar symptoms. Notably, two teachers of the 18-24 month old class also showed symptoms of vomiting, fever, and loose stools.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Department of Health urgently directed the Food Safety Department, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Ha Giang Regional Medical Center to establish an inspection team. The inspection team investigated the cause, collected samples of specimens and water samples at the school for testing. At the same time, the work of checking food safety procedures at the school, as well as checking the domestic water source in the residential area where children with symptoms were found, was deployed.

The Ha Giang Regional Health Center was asked to urgently investigate and monitor the health situation in the locality and promptly report to the Department of Health. The Department of Health also strengthened communication on food safety, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation and disease prevention and control. Relevant units were also directed to review, inspect and promptly handle domestic water sources in high-risk areas.

Currently, the health sector's professional agencies are continuing to closely monitor the situation, closely coordinating with Hoa Hong Kindergarten and related units to ensure the health and safety of students and teachers.
