Le Quy Don High School: A bright spot in volunteer work

Not only focusing on improving the quality of teaching, in recent years Le Quy Don High School (Quang Hanh Ward) has also been one of the bright spots in volunteer work. With the spirit of "The good leaves cover the torn leaves", teachers and students of the school have carried out many meaningful activities to share with difficult circumstances in the community.

Le Quy Don High School's charity activities have been implemented in a diverse, flexible and practical manner for many years. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, the school successfully mobilized and organized two charity trips, giving gifts to poor students in Hoanh Mo commune and Co To special zone with a total amount of 110 million VND. At the same time, it supported the elimination of temporary houses and other charity funds with an amount of nearly 160 million VND.

The Board of Directors of Le Quy Don High School (Quang Hanh Ward) gave gifts to families affected by storm No. 3 in 2024 in Mong Duong Ward.

The school also actively called on units and organizations to support and help orphaned students, those in difficult circumstances, especially those living in Mong Duong ward, with a total amount of money and material support of 30 million VND. On the other hand, the school coordinated with social organizations to implement the "Mid-Autumn Festival" program for about 200 students in Van Don special zone. Here, new bicycles, toys, candies, cash, school supplies... worth 60 million VND were presented.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Le Quy Don High School cooperated with a number of units and philanthropists   successfully organized 2 volunteer trips to schools in   Van Don special zone during the Mid-Autumn Festival and after Typhoon Yagi with the amount of 230 million VND. Organized visits and gave gifts to blind households and students in especially difficult circumstances in Quang Tan and Dam Ha communes with the amount of 65 million VND. Not only that, the school started implementing the model "Green Waste - Red Action" by encouraging and motivating teachers and students to collect scrap and sell it to raise money to help students in especially difficult circumstances inside and outside the school, thereby educating students on environmental protection. The result in the last school year was nearly 10 million VND.

From July 2024, the school has supported and sponsored student Nguyen Thi Minh Hang (class 9B, Doan Ket Secondary School) with especially difficult circumstances in Khe Mai village, Van Don special zone, with an amount of 1 million VND/month for 5 years. Nguyen Thi Minh Hang shared: I am very grateful to the teachers and seniors at Le Quy Don High School for always caring for and helping me during the past time. With a monthly support of 1 million VND, I can cover my study expenses, buy more books, school supplies and partly help my family. This encouragement is a great source of motivation for me to try to study well, not to let down everyone who has trusted and loved me.

In October 2025, Le Quy Don High School continued to coordinate with the Provincial Association for the Support of the Disabled and Disabled, Cam Pha General Hospital, Factory X48 (Navy), the Beloved Quang Ninh Charity Group, and the Ha Long Heart Group to visit and give gifts to children on Thanh Lan Island (Co To Special Zone). During the program, 383 children were examined and provided health consultation; 43 children in particularly difficult circumstances were given gifts (worth 35 million VND); and bougainvillea trees were given to kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in the area. The total cost of the program was nearly 100 million VND.

With its positive contributions to the community, Le Quy Don High School has been recognized and rewarded many times by all levels and sectors. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school received the emulation flag of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its outstanding achievements in the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers, and trade union activities; a certificate of merit from the Department of Education and Training for its achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of the Education sector in the period 2020-2025...

Ms. Tran Thi Thu, Principal of Le Quy Don High School, said: Along with improving the quality of teaching and learning, the school always focuses on forming personality, ethics and social responsibility for students. In the coming time, the school will continue to maintain and expand volunteer activities in a more practical and sustainable way, thereby spreading the sense of responsibility to society to all teachers and students.
