Truong Vinh Hien missed out on the gold medal after losing quickly to Phuc Huynh, Ly Hoang Nam 'won without a fight'

Overseas Vietnamese tennis player Phuc Huynh won a quick victory over Truong Vinh Hien in the final match, thereby being crowned the worthy champion of the professional men's singles event of the PPA Tour Asia MB Vietnam Cup 2025 pickleball tournament held in Da Nang.

Phuc Huynh entered the game explosively

On the afternoon of October 4, the highlight of the PPA Tour Asia MB Vietnam Cup 2025 pickleball tournament in Da Nang was the final match of the professional men's singles between Phuc Huynh and Truong Vinh Hien. This match was predicted to be extremely dramatic, but in reality, it proved the opposite, with Phuc Huynh dominating. Meanwhile, Truong Vinh Hien seemed to not be in the best playing condition after the semi-final match (an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Ly Hoang Nam) and had to accept a quick defeat.

Entering the match, Phuc Huynh started the game explosively, scoring points continuously with powerful and tricky crosses, often sending the ball down the line, surprising Truong Vinh Hien. Phuc Huynh accelerated in the early stages, and raced to victory in the first set.

Phuc Huynh convincingly won the gold medal with an easy victory in the final.

The top Asian player took a 9/0 lead. Vinh Hien regained his serve 4 times in the first set, but could only get 1 point. Phuc Huynh won with a score difference of 11/1, taking a 1-0 lead in the men's singles final.

In game 2, the first serve belonged to Phuc Huynh. With his familiar accurate shots driving the ball to both sides and his agility at the net, Phuc Huynh took a 3/0 lead. Then, Vinh Hien reduced the gap to 2/3. Phuc Huynh went up 7/2, then Vinh Hien pulled back to 4/7.

Vinh Hien did not create much difficulty for his opponent in the final match.

Phuc Huynh showed remarkable stability in his forehand and backhand crosses, winning 11/4 in game 2. The Vietnamese-American player impressively won 2-0 against Truong Vinh Hien, thereby winning the championship.

Ly Hoang Nam won bronze medal in men's singles

Also in the men's singles event taking place the same morning, Ly Hoang Nam faced Chinese athlete Thomas Yu (lost to Phuc Huynh in the semi-finals) in the third place match.

However, this match did not take place because Thomas Yu withdrew due to health reasons. As a result, Ly Hoang Nam was declared the winner and won the bronze medal in the men's singles at the PPA Tour Asia MB Vietnam Cup 2025 pickleball tournament held in Da Nang.
