Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van burst into tears: "As a mother, you cannot abandon your child, for any reason."

Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Quyen (2011), a 9th grade student at Tri Ton Town Secondary School, Tri Ton District, An Giang Province, suffered many disadvantages early on when her father died 27 days before she was born, and her mother left right after giving birth and never contacted her again. Since childhood, Quyen grew up in the arms of her grandmother - Mrs. Ngo Thi Y (1963), who is also her only support.

Mrs. Y was both mother and father, raising Quyen. She earned a living by selling lottery tickets, traveling every day on an old bicycle. Some days she sold out, some days she didn't sell, her meager income wasn't enough to cover expenses. On the way to sell, she picked up some scrap metal to earn some extra money.

Despite her poor health and frequent aches and pains when the weather changes, Mrs. Y still tries to take care of her grandchild. Their meals mainly depend on charity meals, and in the evening there is only thin porridge or vegetable soup. When school starts, unable to provide books and clothes for her grandchild, she can only shed tears of helplessness.

The only bicycle was for her grandmother to sell lottery tickets, so every day Quyen had to ask her uncle to let her ride the 4km to school. To save money, she often skipped breakfast, many meals only had instant noodles and rice with soy sauce, leading to anemia and dizziness, but she still tried to hide it so her grandmother wouldn't worry. Quyen loved her grandmother infinitely, many times when she saw her crying secretly, she just wanted to hug her tightly to comfort her.

The grandmother and grandchild quietly depended on each other to get through the day in a makeshift house, lacking in every way.

The two of them are currently living in a temporary house that was built on the land of Mrs. Y’s aunt, supported by donors six years ago. The house has no toilet and is lacking in every way. Quyen’s biggest dream is to become a teacher to repay her grandmother’s kindness, but she is still worried that her grandmother will not be able to support her to finish her studies.

Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van choked up when witnessing the scene of Phuong Quyen and her grandmother relying on each other in the old house. Feeling sorry for the fate of the orphaned girl, lacking love from her mother, the female artist expressed: “As a mother, you cannot abandon your child, no matter what the reason. Creating a child requires responsibility. No one in society can take your place in raising a child, because the child is yours. I do not agree with abandoning a child. People may think I am extreme, but that is my point of view. I do not want any child to suffer like this anymore. In some way, a mother can be closer to her child. That is not giving love, but responsibility.”

While speaking, Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van continuously wiped away her tears, hugged Quyen tightly for a long time, hoping to make up for some of the maternal warmth that she never had.

When hearing Phuong Quyen wish for her grandmother to be healthy and stay by her side, MC Huynh Lap could not hold back his emotions, sat down and covered his face, sobbing. He shared: “I thought Quyen would wish for her mother to come back, or wish for her own health to be better. But her wish was for her grandmother - the only person she could rely on. That really choked me up.”

Thanh Van burst into tears while hugging Phuong Quyen. Tieu Minh Phung and Huynh Lap felt sorry for the situation of the grandmother and grandchild.

The male MC also sent a message to Phuong Quyen's mother, hoping that she would come back to visit her daughter often so that she would no longer suffer emotional deprivation. Huynh Lap affirmed that a well-behaved and understanding girl like Quyen deserves to be loved.

Concerned about his grandmother’s old age and poor health, and Quyen’s young age, rapper Tieu Minh Phung decided to support a flock of chickens. Huynh Lap also joined in, supporting money for food and the cost of building a coop, so that Mrs. Y could raise chickens at home, without having to struggle to make a living selling lottery tickets.

At the end of the competition, Nguyen Trong Khang's family came in third place, receiving a prize of 19 million VND. Nguyen Tien Huyen Anh came in second place, receiving 22 million VND. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Quyen's family won first place, overcoming a special challenge and bringing home a total prize of 58 million VND. Thus, in episode 155, the total prize from Hoa Sen Group is 99 million VND.
