Vietnam team promoted after victory over Nepal

Vietnam's national football team had an impressive 3-1 victory over Nepal. This result brought about remarkable changes for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team in the world rankings.

Before the match against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam team was ranked 115th in the world .

On the evening of October 9, in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese team defeated 10-man Nepal with goals from Tien Linh, Xuan Manh and Van Vi. According to Footy Ranking , after the match, the Vietnamese team moved up 2 places, reaching 113th place on the FIFA rankings with a total of 1176.9 points, an increase of 6.98 points compared to before the match.

Meanwhile, Nepal suffered a defeat and dropped 3 places, down to 178th place with 916.04 points, down 6.98 points. Another Southeast Asian team, Thailand, also moved up in the rankings after the series of matches on the evening of October 9.

Thanks to the 2-0 victory over Chinese Taipei at home, the War Elephants moved up one place to 100th in the world. With this result, Thailand revived their hopes of advancing to the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
