Prioritize taking care of union members, workers directly involved in production and those facing difficulties during the Lunar New Year 2026

The Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has issued a Plan to organize activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026, in which priority is given to caring for union members and workers directly involved in production and those facing difficulties on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.

According to Plan No. 34/KH-TLD on organizing activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026. The theme is "Tet Sum Vay - Spring of gratitude to the Party" with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet, enjoy Tet".

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requires that Tet care activities are mainly carried out at grassroots trade unions, focusing on the grassroots, giving priority to union members and workers directly involved in production. In particular, priority is given to workers in difficult circumstances, those who have had work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, or lost their jobs, had their working hours reduced, or were owed wages and bonuses; union members and workers from policy families, ethnic minorities, who have not had the opportunity to return home for Tet for many years or have to stay at factories, construction sites, agencies, and units to work during Tet are also given priority support.

Care activities must be practical, safe, economical, and avoid formalities so that workers can truly benefit. Trade unions at all levels need to proactively coordinate with businesses and local authorities to mobilize additional support resources.

At the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor level, working delegations will visit, present gifts and wish a Happy New Year to workers in industrial zones, remote areas, heavy and dangerous occupations or those affected by natural disasters. Each Tet gift is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND (including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in kind). The funding for implementation will come from the regular operating fund of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will attend and encourage union members and workers at the "Tet Sum Vay" and "Union Year-end Meal" programs held at grassroots unions.

The program "Trade Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" is organized directly at a location with a large number of workers (in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi ) to provide essential, quality goods and services at preferential prices, giving away shopping vouchers, giving away products at "0 VND" prices, and discounts. In addition, the program "Trade Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" is also organized online, through the distribution of discount codes (vouchers) to grassroots unions.

In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also supported a number of provinces and cities (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai ) to organize buses, trains, and flights to bring workers home to celebrate Tet in the Central region (Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa) and the Northern region.

For the Labor Federations of provinces and cities; central industry unions; economic group unions... organize Tet care activities according to the implemented plan such as organizing "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026"; organizing visits, giving gifts, and wishing Tet to union members and workers. The General Confederation of Labor assigned the above union units to advise on organizing delegations of leaders of Party committees, authorities, local fronts... to visit, give gifts and wish Tet to union members and workers in difficult circumstances, low income, heavily affected by natural disasters... with a maximum care level of 1 million VND/person and paid in cash.

In places where many people do not return home to celebrate Tet, the trade union can organize the program "Tet not far from home" or other suitable forms, focusing on visiting and giving gifts to workers in boarding houses or construction sites and projects; pay attention to visiting, giving gifts, and organizing Tet for workers in boarding houses or on construction sites and projects well before the 30th of Tet (this year is the 29th of December).

"Union Year-end Dinner" will also be held with the value of each meal being 70,000 VND/meal, paid from the union's financial resources along with the value from corporate sponsorship or socialization.
