Vietnam to host the 2nd Asian E-Sports Games in 2026

Within the framework of the Asian Esports Forum held in Bangkok (Thailand), the Vietnam Entertainment Esports Association (VIRESA) and the Asian Esports Federation (AESF) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, thereby announcing that Vietnam will be the host country of the 2nd Asian Esports Games (AEG) in 2026.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Do Viet Hung - Chairman of VIRESA, Vice Chairman of AESF said: "Vietnam is one of the most dynamically developing e -sports markets in the region, with more than 28 million participants in more than 10 popular e-sports. Not only possessing strong potential in e-sports, Vietnam is also famous for its diverse culture, beautiful landscapes and hospitality. We believe that AEG 2026 will not only bring an international-class playground for athletes, but also an opportunity for international friends to experience more deeply about Vietnamese culture and identity".

Vietnam Recreational E-Sports Association (VIRESA) and Asian E-Sports Federation (AESF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation

Mr. Hung emphasized that, together with partners in the Southeast Asia region, VIRESA is committed to bringing the best experience to athletes, fans and federations, demonstrating the spirit of honoring talent, creativity and connection of the Asian e-sports community.

VIRESA also expressed his wish that AEG 2026 would not only be a tournament, but also a symbol of solidarity, innovation and cooperation in the region.

The Asian Esports Games (AEG) is an international esports event on a continental scale, initiated and sponsored by the Asian Esports Federation. The first edition - AEG 2024 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 25 to December 2, 2024, hosted by the Thai Esports Federation, with the support of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and the National Sports Development Fund of Thailand (NSDF).

Mr. Do Viet Hung received the flag to host the 2nd Asian Esports Games (Asian Esports Games - AEG) in 2026.

The event gathered 179 athletes from 29 countries and territories, becoming the largest e-sports tournament in the continent to date. The Vietnamese national team left a strong impression when winning the Silver medal in the Lien Quan Mobile category - one of Vietnam's strengths.

By hosting the 2026 Asian Esports Games, Vietnam affirms its position as a new center of e-sports in Southeast Asia, while demonstrating a strong commitment to developing professional e-sports.

With an important role in the Vietnamese digital cultural industry ecosystem, VIRESA aims to build a humane, creative and sustainable e-sports platform, contributing to the implementation of the National Digital Transformation Strategy and the Vietnam Cultural Industry Development Strategy to 2030, vision 2045.
