Vo Anh Ngoc – Talented Jazz singer and sower for the young generation

Making a good impression with the album "Relaxing Jazz", on September 11, music lovers welcomed the album Relaxing Jazz (duration 1 hour 45 minutes) of the band Microcarpa Jazz like a cool breeze in the urban music space. Amidst those delicate harmonies, the voice of singer - lecturer Vo Anh Ngoc resounded clearly and emotionally, especially in the two songs Morning Fresh and Lonely In This Room, making listeners stop to listen.

That is the latest mark in her persistent artistic journey, a young face but with a wealth of stage experience.

Vo Anh Ngoc inherited the musical tradition from her family.

Born into a famous artistic family - father is Meritorious Artist, musician Vo Thanh Liem, mother is musician Ngoc Minh - Vo Anh Ngoc grew up surrounded by music, musical instruments and stage lights. Her father recalls: "From a young age, my daughter went on stage like a fish in water. One time, wearing ao dai to perform but not knowing how to perform, she proactively ran to ask the senior artists and then went on stage to perform very confidently. That is a very special stage instinct".

Singing clips of "child singer" Vo Anh Ngoc are still on YouTube with tens of thousands of views. MVs such as: "Sac Xuan" and "Vo doi" show a sweet, pure voice and show that Vo Anh Ngoc was very smart since childhood.

Vo Anh Ngoc - From childhood stage to professional journey

In 2020, singer Vo Anh Ngoc first appeared on HTV screen through the song "Loi Thu Tinh Cua Xuan" (composer Thanh Tung) in the program "Gap Nhau La Tet". But in fact, before that, she had a rich journey: performing in Broadway in Vietnam organized by the US Consulate (2013), the program A Broadway Journey at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music (2016), representing Vietnam to participate in Yes Academy ASEAN in Indonesia and the ASEAN - India Music Festival in 2017.

During the period 2013-2020, she was the lead singer of the Metronome Jazz Band, performing at many luxurious spaces such as Rex Hotel, Sheraton Saigon, Nikko, The Reverie Saigon, InterContinental... as well as tea rooms and bars typical of jazz music in Ho Chi Minh City such as XU Lounge, Saxn'art Jazz Club, Yoko Cafe, Bebop... Her appearance is always associated with a sophisticated, professional and energetic performance style.

Vo Anh Ngoc - A familiar face to television audiences

Not only stopping at the tea room stage, Vo Anh Ngoc is also a familiar face on HTV, Vinh Long, Can Tho , Dong Thap television... She regularly participates in large-scale art programs such as: "Chuong Vang vong co", "Vang trang co nhac"... bringing a unique blend of jazz, pop and traditional Vietnamese music.

A special memory was when she performed the Italian song Torna a Surriento (Vietnamese lyrics: "Return to the old roof") in the program honoring "Diamond Diva" (HTV), leaving many emotions in the hearts of the audience.

People's Artist Kim Cuong praised: "I was extremely surprised, because I had heard many singers perform the song "Return to the Old House", but with Vo Anh Ngoc, the youthful, fresh quality of her voice and the depth of her emotions brought a very new feeling."

Singer Vo Anh Ngoc graduated with honors in Vocal Music from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, was the runner-up in the Intermediate level (2012) and the valedictorian of the University level (2020). She won the Second Prize in the National Young Talent Competition (2017), and the Gold Prize in Mixed Chamber Choir at the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition.

Currently, she is pursuing a master's degree (course 32) majoring in Vocal Performance under the guidance of Dr. Baek Nayoon (Korea).

She is considered a motivator for the young generation at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. Since 2022, she has officially become a Vocal lecturer at the Jazz - Pop - Rock & Music Technology department at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

She has brought to students not only systematic vocal techniques but also inspired a modern, integrated yet unique musical style.

Singer Vo Anh Ngoc shared: "I am very happy to see students increasingly confident, daring to experiment and having a sense of creativity. I want them to understand that music is not only a profession, but also a journey to nurture the soul and spread emotions."

With over 20 years of accompanying large and small art programs, especially HTV's "Golden Bell of Traditional Opera", Vo Anh Ngoc is a regular performing singer and an important "link" connecting modern music with traditional theater.

Talking about the "Golden Bell of Traditional Opera" contest, she was happy to see that from this playground, many young talents have emerged, contributing to enriching today's Cai Luong life.
