Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the school's 2026 enrollment plan is basically unchanged from last year.
According to Mr. Thang, most of the quota is still for the comprehensive admission method, based on academic results (including transcripts, high school graduation exams and competency assessment tests), along with academic achievements and cultural, sports and artistic activities of candidates.
“Technical adjustments related to score conversion or weighting, if any, will be announced by the school early so that candidates can be proactive in preparing their documents,” said Associate Professor Bui Hoai Thang.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology applies two main admission methods: Comprehensive admission, accounting for 95% to 99% of the total enrollment target, and Direct admission/priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, accounting for about 1-5% of the total enrollment target.
The comprehensive admission method applies to the following subjects: Candidates with or without the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test; Candidates who graduated from high school abroad; Candidates using international admission certificates (such as SAT, ACT, IB, A-Level ...); Candidates registering for the "international transfer" program (Australia, USA, New Zealand).
The minimum score for receiving applications for the combined admission method is 50 points (on a 100-point scale). Admission score calculation formula: Admission score = Academic score + Priority score (on a 100-point scale).

Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of Admissions of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that in 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will maintain 5 admission methods including: Considering high school graduation exam scores; Considering 3-year academic transcripts according to subject combinations; Considering the competency assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Considering the specialized competency assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with academic transcripts according to subject combinations corresponding to each major and Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to Mr. Son, maintaining diverse admission methods is a suitable trend today, helping to expand opportunities for candidates and reduce exam pressure when not having to depend entirely on a single exam.
"The flexible admission method helps the school adapt to changes in the high school graduation exam and capacity assessment in the coming years," said Mr. Son.
In particular, from 2026, the school will waive 100% of tuition fees for the entire course and support 3 million VND/month in living expenses for candidates admitted through direct admission.
"This is a commitment to investing in people, creating conditions for talented students to develop comprehensively," Mr. Son emphasized.
From 2028, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will stop considering high school transcripts and switch to a comprehensive capacity assessment method, combining high school transcript scores, high school graduation exam scores and Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment scores, converted into a scale with different proportions.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department, said that from 2026, the school will no longer consider admission methods separately, but will apply a comprehensive admission method.
Accordingly, the results of academic records, high school graduation exam scores and capacity assessment test scores (Ho Chi Minh City National University) will be converted to a common scale, with different proportions for each component.
“After the Ministry of Education and Training has a specific plan, the school will develop a detailed 2026 enrollment plan, including a method of selecting candidates who do not take the competency assessment exam,” said Mr. Nhan.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is applying 4 admission methods: direct admission, review of academic records, review of graduation exam scores and review of competency assessment scores. When the new plan is implemented, the independent admission of each method will end.
