According to the Australian Embassy, recent consecutive storms have caused widespread destruction and flooding in the northern and central regions of Vietnam. The Australian Embassy expressed condolences to the people of Vietnam as the storms have left at least 69 people reported dead.

To share the pain of the Vietnamese people during this difficult time, the Australian Government has committed AU$3 million to the Government of Vietnam to help Vietnam recover from the damage caused by Typhoons Bualoi and Matmo. Australia’s support includes relief supplies and emergency relief packages, such as kitchen sets, hygiene kits, and shelter kits. The funds will also provide support through UN agencies and the Government of Vietnam.
Australian Minister Penny Wong said: “We know the recovery process will take time, and as a long-standing friend and partner, Australia stands with Vietnam during these difficult times. Australia will continue to work with Vietnam on emergency relief efforts and disaster resilience.”
Australia’s support will help provide timely relief to families and communities affected by the recent devastating storms. The two countries are also working together to ensure families and vulnerable people affected by the two storms in Vietnam, including women, children and people with disabilities, receive timely support.
