On the evening of October 19, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi), the Hanoi Party Committee held the 8th Press Award Ceremony on Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilized Hanoians - 2025. The event was of practical significance, held in an exciting and proud atmosphere to celebrate the 1015th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day; to welcome the success of the 18th City Party Congress; towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Standing Committee member, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee Nguyen Doan Toan - Head of the Award Organizing Committee affirmed: In the Platforms and resolutions of the periods, our Party has always affirmed that culture is the spiritual foundation of society, the goal and driving force of development. From the Political Platform in 1930 to the "Outline on Vietnamese Culture" in 1943 with the motto "National - Scientific - Mass", the viewpoint on the role of culture has been constantly developed and perfected.
In particular, Resolution 5 of the 8th Central Committee and Resolution 9 of the 11th Central Committee have clearly affirmed the position of culture on par with economics, politics and society. The 13th National Party Congress continues to emphasize: "Comprehensive human development and building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity so that Vietnamese culture and people truly become an endogenous strength, a driving force for national development and national defense; increase investment in developing cultural careers".
Those major orientations demonstrate the Party's consistent thinking and strategic vision on the particularly important role of culture - considering culture and people as both a solid spiritual foundation and an endogenous strength, a great driving force for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.
Comrade Nguyen Doan Toan emphasized: Thang Long - Hanoi is a land of "spiritual land and talented people", a place where "the soul of mountains and rivers of thousands of years has settled", the crystallization of Vietnamese intelligence and spirit. Having gone through more than ten centuries of ups and downs with the nation's history, Hanoi is not only the national political and administrative center, but also the cradle of Vietnamese culture, intelligence and personality.
Recognizing the special position and role of the Capital - the heart of the whole country, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW dated May 5, 2022 on the direction and tasks of developing the Capital Hanoi to 2030, with a vision to 2045. In which, it emphasized the key task: "Focus on developing the Capital's culture worthy of the thousand-year tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi; build Hanoi to truly be the center of convergence and cultural crystallization of the whole country, becoming a new development resource for the Capital".
Deeply imbued with that spirit, the Hanoi Party Committee always considers culture and people as the center, the endogenous strength, the goal and also the driving force for the development of the capital.
Affirming that the Press Award on cultural development and building elegant and civilized Hanoians is an initiative of profound political, social and humanistic significance of the Hanoi Party Committee, comrade Nguyen Doan Toan commented: After eight seasons of organization, the Award has become a prestigious brand of the capital's press, a forum to honor the intelligence, dedication and social responsibility of the team of journalists in the work of building and developing the culture and people of Hanoi.
Praising and congratulating the authors, groups of authors, and press agencies that won the 2025 award, comrade Nguyen Doan Toan emphasized: The recent Resolution of the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee clearly stated: "Promoting the cultural tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi, building elegant and civilized Hanoians, representing Vietnamese culture and people; considering culture and people as the pillars of sustainable development of the Capital". This is both the goal and the strategic orientation in the development process of Hanoi in the new period.
In the coming time, the Hanoi Party Committee will continue to synchronously and comprehensively implement the tasks of developing the capital's culture, ensuring harmony between immediate requirements and long-term vision; both inheriting and promoting traditional cultural values and encouraging innovation, creativity and deep integration - demonstrating the strong aspiration to rise of the thousand-year-old capital.
From the depth of the tradition of "thousand years of civilization", Hanoi today is entering a new stage of development - dynamic, creative, deeply integrated internationally, with the aspiration to build a Capital "Cultured - Civilized - Modern - Happy People, Globally Connected City".
Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee Nguyen Doan Toan expressed his belief that with the spirit of innovation, creativity and social responsibility, the team of journalists in the capital and the whole country will continue to accompany the city in the cause of building and developing the culture and people of Hanoi. Each press work, each communication activity will be a bridge to spread humanistic values, contributing to glorifying the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi, worthy of its position as a center of convergence and dissemination of culture of the whole country.
After 8 times of organization, the Press Award on Cultural Development and Building Elegant, Civilized Hanoians bearing the mark of the Capital has increasingly attracted a large number of reporters and press agencies to participate, thereby promoting responsibility, intelligence and enthusiasm in building a Cultural - Civilized - Modern Capital. After one year of organization, the Organizing Committee of the Award has received 352 works from 35 press agencies, including 7 Hanoi press agencies and 28 Central, ministerial and local press agencies - with all types of press. Specifically: 107 printed newspapers, 177 electronic newspapers, 68 radio and television works.
Notably, compared to 2024, the number of participating works increased, showing the growing interest and investment of press agencies and units in the Award. Many units actively participated, such as: VTV, VOV, Nhan Dan Newspaper, VNA, People's Army Newspaper, Hanoi Moi Newspaper, Economic & Urban Newspaper, Tien Phong Newspaper, Vietnam National Defense Television, Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper, Hanoi People Magazine...
According to the evaluation of the Final Jury, this year's entries clearly demonstrate professionalism and in-depth investment, outstanding in three aspects: Methodical direction and organization from the editorial offices, many works are invested in a planned manner. Strong application of multimedia technology, with nearly 60 e-magazine, longform, megastory products, in line with modern journalism trends. Promoting the strength of in-depth analysis of printed newspapers, of which about 30% are serial series. In terms of content, this year's entries have demonstrated both breadth and depth, closely following the key issues in building and developing the capital's culture.
With a spirit of objectivity, impartiality and high responsibility, from August 7, 2025 to August 25, 2025, the Preliminary Council of the 8th Press Award on cultural development and building elegant and civilized Hanoians - 2025 introduced 80 works to the final round.
After the results of the preliminary round, the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee chaired the organization of the final round. Specifically, on September 19, 2025, the Final Round Council met and unanimously selected 33 best press works to award the Prize (including 03 A Prizes, 05 B Prizes, 10 C Prizes and 15 Encouragement Prizes); at the same time, 02 typical press agencies were also selected to receive the Excellent Equal Prize - with many quality works participating in the Prize, namely Vietnam Television and Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper.
3 A prizes were awarded to the works: "Hanoi Capital - the lasting marks" (VTV2 - Vietnam Television); "Culture is the foundation and driving force for the journey of historical transformation" (Economic & Urban Newspaper); "Hanoi - Building a new model in the era of growth" (Hanoi Moi Newspaper - group of authors: Tran Hong Van, Hoang Le Quyen, Doan Anh Tuan, Nguyen Tuan Phong, Vu Ngoc Ha).
This is the fifth time that Hanoi Moi Newspaper has won the A prize in the Journalism Award for Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilized Hanoians (2018, 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025). This year, Hanoi Moi Newspaper also won the C prize with the work "Green City: Source of Green Streams" by the group of authors Cu Xuan Truong, Kieu Duy Chanh, Hoang Son, Kim Nhue, Nguyen Huu Tiep.
At the award ceremony, the public enjoyed the special art program "Hanoi - Come to love". This is also a large art program with practical significance to welcome the success of the 18th Congress of Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th Congress of the Party and the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025)./.
