Robert Lewandowski joined Barca from Bayern Munich for £42.5 million in the summer of 2022. Since then, the Polish striker has scored 105 goals in 165 appearances.

Despite Lewandowski's incredible achievements, Sport newspaper confirmed that Barca decided not to sign a new contract with this number 9 striker.

The report said that the Nou Camp bosses felt that Lewandowski, at the age of 37, no longer had the physical strength to compete at high intensity and was gradually losing form.

Another important factor is the former Bayern star's sky-high salary. Lewandowski is receiving 400,000 euros/week, one of the best-paid players at the club.

Meanwhile, Rashford has made a strong impression on Barca's leadership since moving to the club on loan for a season.

Initially, Barca bosses felt that Rashford seemed to have some problems, so MU easily pushed him away. However, they were very satisfied with the work ethic and talent of the 27-year-old striker.

Barcelona are ready to make the Rashford deal permanent at the end of the 2025/26 season by paying £25m plus £5m in add-ons to United.

With Lewandowski likely to leave, the chances of Rashford signing a long-term contract at Barca are increasing.
