The sensational deals that once helped Barcelona regain its glory in the transfer market are now leaving a heavy burden on its financial books.

Barcelona are still heavily in debt.

According to the latest report, the Catalan team still owes a total of 159 million euros for completed contracts, of which 140.6 million is short-term debt and 18.5 million is long-term debt.

With Raphinha, Barcelona still has to pay Leeds United 41.9 million euros - the largest figure on the list. The Robert Lewandowski deal is not yet completely closed as Bayern Munich is still waiting for the 20 million euros that must be transferred to Polish clubs related to the purchase, plus 6 million euros in bonuses according to the additional clause.

Sevilla have yet to receive 24.5 million euros of the nearly 60 million euros worth of Jules Koundé, while Manchester City are still waiting for 13.3 million euros for Ferran Torres. Even for the smaller deal of Emerson Royal, Barca still owe Betis around 6 million euros.

In total, Barcelona are still financially tied to a series of clubs, from Rennes, Girona, Valencia to Sporting Club.

However, on the other hand, the Camp Nou team is also a creditor. The report shows that other clubs owe Barcelona a total of 64.1 million euros. Of these, FC Porto owes the most - 6.7 million euros from the Nico González deal; Al Ahli has not paid 4.1 million euros to Kessié; and Shakhtar Donetsk owes 3.1 million euros for the Marlon deal. Braga and several other Spanish clubs are also on the list.

Notably, Chelsea - in the women's football division - still owe Barcelona money for two contracts, Caroline Graham Hansen and Keira Walsh.

Despite the mounting debts, Barcelona's board of directors insists the "financial crisis is under control" and expects revenues next season to reach 1.075 billion euros. An impressive figure - but also a reminder that, in rebuilding the empire, Barca is still having to "pay in installments" for its own past.
