Can Tho accelerates to improve the quality of ethnic education and key education

GD&TĐ - The Education sector of Can Tho City continues to take advantage of the achieved foundations to accelerate, overcome limitations, and implement breakthrough tasks.

On October 10, the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City held a conference to review the work of quality management and ethnic education in the 2024-2025 school year and deploy key tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Danh Hoang Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, emphasized: The 2024-2025 school year has special significance, marking the synchronous implementation of the 2018 General Education Program from grades 1 to 12 and the first organization of the High School Graduation Exam according to the new program.

Last school year, the Education and Training Department of Can Tho City achieved many outstanding results. The 2025 High School Graduation Exam was held safely, with a graduation rate of 99.32%. In particular, the Literature subject had an average score of 7.259, ranking 5th in the country, and the city was in the top 10 localities with the most 10s nationwide.

The work of nurturing excellent students continues to maintain its position with 112 national awards and more than 2,300 city-level awards, affirming the quality of leading education. Quality assessment and building schools that meet national standards are promoted, with 740/1,149 schools meeting standards (64.4%).

Looking back at the outstanding results of the 2024 - 2025 school year for Quality Management and Ethnic Education.

Regarding ethnic education, the city's education sector has implemented ethnic policies well, ensuring the right to education and fairness in access to education. The rate of mobilizing ethnic minority students to attend class has met and exceeded the target.

The whole city has 149 Khmer language schools with more than 46,000 students, 6 Chinese language schools with more than 2,200 students, and 13 ethnic boarding schools with more than 6,000 students...

Mr. Danh Hoang Nguyen emphasized that the 2025-2026 school year will be the period when the Can Tho Education sector will take advantage of the achieved foundation to accelerate, overcome limitations and implement breakthrough tasks.

The conference is an opportunity for delegates and teachers to exchange and share experiences and agree on specific directions and solutions for the new school year.

The sector will focus resources on thoroughly resolving difficulties in infrastructure, improving the quality of ethnic, mass and key education; at the same time, increasing the rate of high schools meeting national standards, promoting digital transformation in management, teaching and learning, towards smart and modern education.

The City Department of Education and Training commended the units.

On this occasion, the City Department of Education and Training awarded 60 collectives with a 100% high school graduation rate (57 units) and a high rate of university admission (3 units); awarded 2 students who were valedictorians and salutatorians in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam; and awarded certificates to 3 schools that met national standards.
