Scientific and technological breakthroughs from policy

Danang University was selected by the Central Steering Committee on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation as one of four universities in Vietnam “to invest in as a model for the higher education system”.

This is a content according to the Conclusion Notice No. 45-TB/TGV of the Central Steering Committee's Working Group led by Comrade Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee as Deputy Head of the Group, thereby creating a great opportunity for Danang University to demonstrate its pioneering role and mission.

Developing scientific and technological potential

Danang University has increased its attraction of leading scientists, including Vietnamese intellectuals and experts abroad, through its international cooperation network with the European University Alliance (Ulysseus) or the Global Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Organization (AVSE Global), of which Danang University is a strategic partner.

A representative of the University of Danang said that the school will focus on establishing 10 more strong, interdisciplinary research groups, prioritizing strategic areas. At least 30% of the members will come from businesses, with the aim of linking research with practical applications.

In the coming time, Danang University will mobilize domestic and foreign resources, implement specific mechanisms and policies to attract 5 to 7 excellent scientists each year to lead interdisciplinary research groups. The school focuses on strongly innovating the financial mechanism in the direction that finance must be one step ahead with the institution to create a breakthrough.

In addition, Danang University directed member training institutions to develop action programs, proactively propose and prepare more than 100 specific projects and tasks to be ready to participate in major science and technology programs; prioritize the establishment of new institutes and excellent research centers such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips, new materials and renewable energy, financial technology, etc.

For example, recently, the University of Technology (University of Danang) inaugurated and put into operation the National Key Laboratory for shared mechatronics and applications with the aim of improving the capacity for training human resources and scientific research in the field of mechatronics to serve modern industrial production.

Breakthrough policy

Recently, the "Conference on Solutions to Enhance International Publication, Creating Breakthroughs in Scientific Research in the Spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW" of Danang University has clearly identified 3 key groups of tasks. Including: Building a policy to develop high-quality human resources; promoting comprehensive digital transformation in university governance; strong innovation in scientific research management and innovation. Danang University's strategic orientation focuses on harmonizing basic and academic research with applied research, participating in solving urgent practical problems; and encouraging and creating conditions for intellectuals to actively consult, build, contribute ideas and criticize policies.

The breakthrough is to promote international publications in prestigious journals (Web of Science, Scopus); strive to "be among the top 150 universities in Asia and have at least one field ranked in the world's top 100 according to prestigious international university rankings" by 2030. This is one of the goals of Conclusion Notice No. 45-TB/TGV set for the four universities receiving key investment.

A representative of the University of Danang said that from the 2025-2026 school year, the University of Danang will give high priority to achievements and scientific research results in emulation and reward work; direct member training institutions to increase funding sources to support students in scientific research, create conditions for innovation and start-up topics and projects of students to participate in regional, national and international academic competitions and playgrounds; register intellectual property and start-up incubation.

Vivid evidence from the member training institutions of Danang University is constantly active in connecting and participating in prestigious training and research networks. Typically, the University of Technology has just been assigned by the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training to preside over the network of excellent and talented training centers in artificial intelligence and semiconductor industry in the Central region and the whole country (Decision No. 374/QD-TTg, Official Dispatch No. 3438/BGDĐT-KHCNTT); participating in the network of excellent and talented training centers in the fields of renewable energy and hydrogen.

The University of Education (University of Danang) and the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (University of Danang) participate in the innovation network of universities in Danang city. “These activities aim to promote and strengthen the connection of the “four houses” (state - school - scientist - business), joining hands to make Danang become a center of innovation and start-up, a growth pole for the development of the region and the country”, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Rector of the University of Education shared.
