The boy studying animal husbandry designed the performance costume at Miss Grand International 2023

Not a professional fashion designer but with a strong passion, the young man Nguyen Le Vinh Tuong (24 years old) created the "Dance of the Dragon" costume.   (Rising dragon) represents Vietnam to perform at Miss Grand International 2023.

Studying animal husbandry at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry to continue his family's work, Vinh Tuong has had a passion for fashion since his high school years. In addition to studying, Tuong goes online to learn and explore the techniques of fashion design. When he learned about the national costume design contest, within the framework of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 , Tuong registered to participate with the work "Dance of the Dragon".   and win.

" Dance of the Dragon" was chosen as the costume representing Vietnam to perform at the National Costume night, within the framework of Miss Grand International 2023. The costume was inspired by the story of the Dragon and the Fairy and the silk dance.

“The dragon is a sacred image, symbolizing strength and authority in Vietnamese cultural beliefs. The image of this fictional creature flying to the sky carries wishes for peace, luck and prosperity. I have been thinking and perfecting the idea for 2 years. The dragon body in the hand is inspired by silk dance,” Vinh Tuong shared.

The structure of "Dance of the Dragon" includes a dragon head with a rotating shaft effect and a dragon body that Miss Hoang Phuong holds in her hand to perform. This costume is also equipped with lighting and flare effects to make it look more eye-catching. During the process of making it, Tuong had to ask for help from welders and tailors.

“The costume weighs about 30 kg and has wheels to push it during the performance. Since Vietnam is the host country, there was no difficulty in transporting it to the competition venue. However, because the costume was so large, it was difficult to perform. Fortunately, the organizers agreed to let Hoang Phuong appear with support from the crew,” Tuong shared, adding that when he saw Le Hoang Phuong’s smooth and impressive performance at the National Costume competition night, he was extremely touched and proud.

“I couldn’t contain my emotions when I saw Ms. Phuong come out and perform the dragon model with great enthusiasm. I also want to tell everyone that even if difficult circumstances force you to change direction to another field that is not in line with your passion, the best time to start over is right now. I never thought I would win but then I made it to Miss Grand International,” Tuong shared.

"Dance of the Dragon" is an impressive costume with a harmonious overall look. If every year we prioritize compact costumes, now we have the opportunity to show our creativity, technique... through a grand design."
