Hanoi Chairman requests general inspection of mini apartments to find solutions

On the afternoon of September 15, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired an online conference to deploy the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch 796 on the house fire in lane 29/70, Khuong Ha street, Thanh Xuan district .

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh said that the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan district was the most serious incident in the city so far. When the incident occurred, city leaders immediately directed at the scene measures to overcome the consequences.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee affirmed that the city’s fire prevention work has always been of concern. “We have done a lot of work. For example, with the management of fire prevention at karaoke bars, Hanoi has done very drastically, minimizing a lot of damage,” said Mr. Thanh.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee stated that the General Secretary had sent a letter of condolences and shared the people's loss and requested Hanoi to conduct a thorough review and learn from experience. Mr. Thanh requested that the city's units seriously implement this work to report to the General Secretary and the Government as soon as possible.

“We should not let the loss of 56 families of victims of the mini apartment fire become meaningless, but must become something that changes the awareness of Party committees and authorities at all levels, from the city to districts, wards and communes, about fire prevention and fighting. We need to promote the role of the entire political system and especially the people. If people do not support, success will only be half,” Mr. Tran Sy Thanh emphasized.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee directed that this general inspection is to have "combat" solutions and people's support to reduce the risk of fire and explosion. To get people's support, the authorities must mobilize and provide specific instructions.

From there, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh noted a number of specific tasks that the city's departments and agencies need to do immediately. According to him, the risk of parking basements with a large number of motorbikes jostling each other is "a matter of when a fire will break out. Once a fire occurs, there is no way to save it." While there is no criterion for a square meter to cover a motorbike, people must agree, arrange and manage themselves, and the authorities will only provide guidance.

“The house has many electrical outlets, so we have to guide the people on how to ensure safety. This requires the participation of the entire political system, just like the work on the clearance of Ring Road 4. We have to get involved and closely follow the people,” said the Chairman of the City People’s Committee.

From the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee mentioned the need for fire escape ladders in buildings and apartments that have difficulty escaping.

“If funding is difficult, mobilize people to work together. Saving one person is already extremely happy. The facility must research and have a specific way to do it,” said Mr. Tran Sy Thanh.

From the above analysis, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh said that we must do something to change the awareness of all levels of industry and people in fire prevention and fighting and rescue.

"How can we prevent unfortunate incidents from happening?" Mr. Tran Sy Thanh said and asked the units to immediately and effectively implement the city's plan.
