Although he is very busy with work, donating blood to save patients is always considered by Van Thai Trong as his responsibility, joy and happiness.
Recalling the first time he donated blood, Mr. Trong expressed: "The first time I was encouraged to donate blood, I was very scared. I didn't know if giving blood would affect my health or not, I felt very nervous and anxious. But, through the first blood donation, and seeing poor patients being treated but anemic, without blood to transfuse... it urged me, like strength for me to continue donating blood the next times. And up to now, I have donated blood 19 times. Honestly, the feeling now is no longer as scary as before, but natural...".

Many youth union members and people in An Long commune have followed Mr. Trong's example and voluntarily donated their drops of red blood to save people.
Mr. Van Thai Trong happily shared: "Up to now, I have mobilized 25 volunteers to donate blood. Specifically, Ms. Dinh Thi Nhan has donated blood 15 times and has just been commended by the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Dong Thap province, Mr. Truong Van Nuoc and Mr. Pham Van Nho have each donated blood 4 times, Mr. Pham Van Tuan has donated blood 3 times and there are many others who have been mobilized by me to donate blood 1 to 2 times...".

Older sister Dinh Thi Nhan, from An Long commune, said: "I saw Mr. Trong donate blood many times. Through Mr. Trong's encouragement, I followed his example and volunteered to donate blood to save people. Up to now, I have also donated blood 15 times."
At the age of 34, unmarried, Mr. Trong is still sharp, flexible and enthusiastic with his assigned work tasks and regularly participates in local mass, physical education and sports activities to maintain good health, continue to donate blood and mobilize everyone to donate blood to save lives. Mr. Trong's humanitarian blood donation has been known and admired by many people.
Mr. Van Thai Trong did not hesitate to say: "Regular blood donation has benefits such as: being monitored, checked, and given health advice; reducing iron overload in the body; helping to regenerate new blood and contributing to reducing the risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease... Each time I donate blood, it is sent to the blood bank of hospitals to save patients in need of blood. I wish to have good health to continue donating blood to save people."
With 19 voluntary blood donations, Mr. Van Thai Trong has been honored and rewarded. Most notably, he was awarded twice by the Dong Thap Province Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee. However, Mr. Trong is very modest, saying that he has never thought of what he does to be rewarded, but only does it out of conscience, responsibility and the desire to contribute his small efforts to the community's health and social security.
